Hey Guys,
Thanks for all the help, I got 2 variable resistors from work, i tried one and it wasnt quite enough so i put them both in and it still wasnt enough i played around with it for a couple of days and worked out the the third contact on the resistor needs to be earthed , so i earthed them and they now work PERFECTLY just a little adjustment needed now.
