1 leading shoe (850) 2 leading shoe (the rest)

on C/L== on centre line (of hub)

L/R yes, left and right. The top holes are opposite hand (slightly) each side.

ok, well turns out that the $1100 setup from the local mini place is actually for standard single pot 8.4" discs (like the mokes) what a rip.. i can buy two mokes for that. they also rekon the civic setup will root up all of my geometry.. now i havent done geometry and trig since high school, but if i'm using the same drive flanges and end up with the same offset as my spaced drums.. i can not figure out how f'n possible this could even alter my suspension geometry let alone root it

Time to find another 'local mini place'..........He is pretty keen to sell you those moke brakes. If he was a decent machanic, it doesn't take much to work out just changing the disks is not going to change the geometry

I was planning on doing it, but I havn't gotten around to doing the paper work to see if the Transport people will let me... dont want anything like this to void my insurence, in case anything happens.

What mini place? The one out Armadale way / or the one in Bayswater?

Cheers

i dont have a mechanic.. i just need somewhere to source parts locally when i'm in a hurry

and you dont have to be a rocket scientist to know that its not going to change geometry

does anyone here have any drive flanges lying around?
and some 25mm spacers?

Cheapest way to get spacers is find somebody with a lathe (truck repair shop, machine shop, toolroom, etc) and get them to slice a couple off some Mini S drums.
That way all the holes are in already, and they will run true.

Drive flanges are off any drum braked Mini. Just watch they are not grooved where the bearings sit (a common problem).

Doc,

Relieved a couple of 83-84 Preludes of there anchors this morning. Disc diameter is 229mm and roughly 49m thick. I am running 12*5 Superlights. Assuming i use a backing plate (say) 3.5mm thick and the disc is 49mm thick, what thickness spacer do I need?

Maybe you could post what the total calculation needs to be? Like if your backing plate is 3.5mm and your disc is 49mm your spacer needs to be ....... thick.

Doc, is there any chance the spacer may not be required? I mean if there is enough clearance inside the wheel to not require it or is it spacing the wheel to give accurate track?

As has been mentioned there is a problem with legality/responsibility and distrubuting these cad drawings.... plus anyone who has spend the time making acurate ones (mine has takes almost two solid weeks!!! to do it to a fanatical standard) probly wants to make a buck of them

I really can't see how you could be in trouble legally. Anybody who does the modification HAS to have it engineered. If your brakes fail you go and bust up your engineer... not the bloke you aquired the plans from. If you don't get it engineered then your a twit and you deserve to die.

I agree... if you've done a good job of the drawings you'd wanna get a couple of bob for them.

Dewey, the problem here is- a lot of people DON'T go to the trouble of getting them engineered. Then (in theory) if the brakes `fail' and you hit Lord Muck and kill him, the guys who proposed the mods could be in deep doo-doo.

You have a better idea of thel details when bobtel sought legal advice and I've been through my thoughts on this before.

Don't call me 'Judge dewey'... because I'm not :)

When it boils down it shouldn't be that hard to whip up a decent CAD by yourself or just get out the angle grinder like Kev

My bad- I thought he meant Accord.
I don't think late Prelude (or late model Accords either) brakes will fit, they look too big....
but if they are 229mm they should work, with 12" or 13" wheels.

animal posted somewhere in this thread what year his Accord was, I think...

<edit> These Accord brakes are single pot just like Civics, but ventilated. 229mm dia.

Animal's piccies, Accords on the Mini.... swivel hubs & drive flanges are drum type..
He used 13x6 wheels.
