not a mini story, but a jump story.

My grandfather launched a semi off some railway lines one day. They were on a raised part of the road, took it a little too fast, and WHAM! Airbourne.

We do know for a fact that all the wheels came off the ground. You see, a copper just happened to be nearby, and he saw the whole thing. Amazingly, grandpa didnt lose his licence. One sixpack later, he got let off, AND he was given a piece of paper containing details of where the police would be for the next week!

(who knows how long ago this was though)

My mini before I stole it off my brother, was used in his back yard along with a mini chopper for entertainment. An old pallet, a jerry can or two of petrol, a bit of dirt to pack the jump made out of the pallet, and a slab or two, and they used to light the jump on fire and jump it with the mini and the mini bike and video tape it :) its quite funny to watch actually... kids please dont try this at home!!!!!!! and dont put your mini through it!

car drives fine though... (when I say fine I mean jumping it didnt make it any worse)

only once by accident,

i had 3 mates in the car hit a bridge doing just over the speed limit, didnt realise it was so steep. Got a little bit of air, the car bottomed out, my mates in the back hit the roof (no seatbelts) and a girl on the side of the road thought it was very funny.

Is the person called "Slow VR" someone on this forum? If so, post the link to this thread. 8)

I haven't had my mini for long and am getting more confident and adventurous with it now. About 2 weeks ago i was driving home and instead of slowing down for the train lines like i do with my Toyota i sped up. The car definitely left the ground and i would estimate travelled about a metre or so in the air. Due to the shape of the hump in the road it was a very soft landing and thus no damage or bad noises was noticed. I was impressed how the mini took it. It was less of a jolt than a normal speed hump and it flew nice and flat. 8)

I have jumped Orangie many times, what a wonderful feeling. The only thing I ever broke was the exhaust when I had 3 other people in the car. This was when I still had the stock 998 in the car the exhaust snapped off at the manifold where that stupid flare and clamp are. So I used the opportunity to put a header on the car. I've jumped Orangie a couple times since the engine transplant with no problems but it does feel different with the lighter engine in it.

I've also jumped a Bini S, the jump was good, the landing was more of a problem. It sure didn't seem to come down quite as level as a Mini. It did a bit of a nose dive and the bottom of the front bumper fascia was a little damaged, but not too badly.
