you don't have to move the master cylinders on an RHD car with a honda motor, because the motor sits on the passenger side of the car, opposite to the swifts, starlets etc. The steering rack problems come from where the gearbox is, and combined with the size of the intake manifold meaning you can't lean the motor back as far as you need to to clear the rack, and clear the manifold - make a new manifold and problem solved.[/quote]

I must remember to tell the 2 guys who's cars I actually get to check over each year they didn't need to do it that way

I will try and get pics of the setups when I next see them in June, its a damned tight fit in a standard round nose front and its not so easy to make a new inlet manifold and both cars are using all the standard manifolds and standard ECU, will post them up after I have pics :D

nice one... normally sportspacks make me want to barf, but this one looks hot...

removable front must make a lot of difference to front end clearance, I'm gonna have my front removable

that last one had to move the steering rack tho, and modded the firewall quite dramatically to fit as well.

VTEC = LOTS OF PANELWORK, past the point of massaging... the City turbo is the only Honduh that really is't that massive. Nice engine, but I decided that it might just not be worth the effort as parts seemed to be really hard to find

Have a look at the pod filter on that one and that explains why they say you have to move the master cylinders to avoid a very tight right angle bend in the induction system, nothing is impossible just a little hard to do :D

yeah Jon... standard injection is a bitch... mine is a carb motor, and will stay that way for a while... until I go turbo with a custom manifold

Hi Simon,

I cant really see what the bid deal is.

If you really want to put the motor in there, then a little panel work is a small price to pay.

I have taken the alternative route of redesigning the IM to actually arch back over the valve cover - this gives good manifold to bulkhead clearance.

Obviously being a turbo with water to air cooling, the runners are relatively short and tapered, with the plenum tapering as well to get an increase in air velocity.

Meh, if you want it bad enough, it will happen.

Regards,
Tricky

I didnt know they made a Vtec that ran on carbs but I like to learn new stuff and its bloody hard to stay up on all the makes and stuff about these days. There are 2 brothers in NSW (Mackies) with Lotus Elise fitted with Vtec and they have gone for supercharging like the Aerial Atom, around the 320 horsepower which gives them a power to weight of about 700 horses per ton and a much better power delivery than turbo if not max power a flatter power curve :D

nah, mines non-vtec, it's the granny car option for an 80's honda... but you could run vtec with carbs if you wanted to, it's just a solenoid that's powered at a preset RPM, so you could fire it with a shift light and a relay if you really wanted to :)

whichever way you are gunna go with this your engine bay is gunna be a tight fit. best solution for VTEC is flipfront. so much easier to get in and out cause more than likely your gunna be doin it often. lol

Image

as you can see the swift motor in a round nose is still tight.
either way its a matter of getting your motor, doing the measurements, and doing the mods from there. loads of people have done the conversion and i bet there are little variations on everyone. you do what you have to to get the motor in.
