Ok peeps,

I was just wondering who has put a baby seat/capsule in there mini.

i was just wondering the best way about all the mounting points and so forth!!!


obviously the seat will have to go in the middle as i have 7x10s either side of the parcel shelf!!!!

If anybody has photos that would be great!!!

i need to put the seat in so that i can start coming on some mini cruises again, it has been about 2 years since my last cruise:(

1977 minis had the child restraint fixing points in them. I have twin boys and carted them about in their baby seats - mind you they took up the entire back seat...lol

See the ambulance service - they seem to know where the places are that do the fixing points...I think there are certain rules and measurements involved so get some indy advice...

No troubles...can't be stuffed getting under Morris tonight and I don't think you'l be do anything tonight anyway..as you can see we have put in on the passengerside..only for the eaz of geting in and out

The left bolt is for the passenger seat belt, the bolt on the right is the child restraint bolt(drivers side...)

This is the mount on the passengers side.

Hope this helps you - I think the plate steel can be put in the middle and all will be sweet.

Is it legal if you install the mount point / seatbelt yourself?

Im faced with the same problem, have a 68, so no seatbelt or child restratint.
I'd be quite happy to install it myself, just want it to be legal if i get pulled over, or worse, have a crash.

Re: the install, check with your local authority. Regardless, I suggest you cough up the $30 or so and get it done properly, there are many tricks to installing them properly (most inertia seat belts require a special piece to lock the belt in place). A few years back a few blocks from my place a young couple got t-boned in a Corolla liftback entering Bunnerong Road, they hadn't installed the capsule properly, and the poor child was ejected through the rear window. It's not worth skimping on this, get a professional to do it.

Despite my Rover having the mounts fitted for Australian compliance, the local fitter couldn't fit any of better booster seats due to the belts securing the seat being too long for the mini.

Also, below is a useful piece of information from the NSW RTA on their recommended capsules that were tested to a program more rigorous than the Australian Standards. It makes for interesting reading.
