the word is you dont need a softmount kit, normal gasket paper will do.

both softmount and linkage kits can be bought from Redline, www.redlineauto.com.au

also i believe lynx make a linkage kit thats a lot cheaper (i dont know about quality though). www.lynxcorp.com.au

The lynx airfilter only just fits, so anything much bigger wont have a chance from the looks of it.

The clearance is like 1cm from the firewall, after using a BFH to pound it in slightly (It's reverseable so I aint too worried). I have the softmounting rubber kits which adds a further 8mm or so of length to the overall carb setup. If it wasn't for the compact design of the Lynx ramflo it would be sitting on the firewall!

the 40 DHLA is not much shorter by the looks of it so either carb is going to be a tight squeeze...

[EDIT] Forget the KN oval cylinder type filters, they won't fit! You'll need to custom build a box on the firewall just for that if you want that. The Doc was saying that for his 1275 he had to machine the redline manifold (same as mine) so that it sat at an angle where the filter is pointing towards the sky just to clear the firewall... and he uses the lynx filter!!!

[EDIT 2] And not just any ordinary lynx filter, the one in the picture is a P5 bottom offset filter which makes a big difference. Without the offset it will sit on the firewall.

I believe the soft mount kit is a good idea on Weber DCOEs as they are more prone to flooding & fuel frothing.
But I've run a stock gasket on my Dellorto for years, no problem. 8)

i'm guessing dellortos fit weber manifolds.. is the linkage the same (or atleast close enough?)

which one of these is correct?

the linkage kit is the better half of $100 :/ not cheap, its very close to a dellorto, from memory. i have the piece of paper from inside the kit if you want me to scan it.

I have nearly a whole kit unused. we ended up making something up or selves, not as elegant looking, but a lot less moving bits, and it works well.

The Lynx kit is not as good as the Redline one, I've heard.
Anbody got some pics?
Lynx kit has plastic rose (aka Heim) joints which BREAK when they get old.. :x as I found out the hard way...

yes dellortos fit weber inlets. aslong as the linkage kit isnt stand alone ( bolt to the carb its self instead of the manifold) it will be the same as the weber.

miniVan wrote:

not really, im running one because i scored it for free, also my inlet manifold had 'O'ring groves machined into it
miniVan wrote:

it wont fit for sure. im running a very similar manifold to the redline 3005 ( earlier model i believe ) and i had to cut the firewall to accept the k&n filter, this is well worth ittho as i will never use foam filters again, after i pulled an su apart and black foam fell out of everywhere. also if tou keep the k&n you can run ram tubes in it rather than substacks , ( talk to kev if u want any btw ;) )
heres a link to a post about the dellorto linkages i made a while ago. the linkages are still working without fault :D

heres a few piccies :D

when you say cut the firewall.. what exactly do you mean?

i dont care about hacking the engine bay, theres enough fibreglass in this mini to call it not exactly your 'ridgy didge A class example'

got any pics of the firewall.. where youve cut it? how you covered it etc

one this i must note.. firewall i dont care.. center speedo must stay though (love it there).. be able to step it out further though if i have to

whats is the benifit of stub stacks by the way?

A Weber box takes up most of the romm in there where the centre speedo is. If you want the speedo there (working) I'd forget the Weber box.
OK on a Clubbie though..

`Stubstacks' are just a real short ram pipe- they provide a radius into the mouth of the carb. This can give around a 5% improvement in flow, and on a Weber or Dellorto it gives a clearer flow signal via the aux venturi which controls mixture strength. So it runs smoother.
Good idea on SU's too.
My Weber/Dellorto ones were copied (sort-of) from Vizard's yellow book, in the chapter on `ram charging'.
