Hi,

I'm looking at getting an under dash aircon unit for the deluxe, as were fitted to rover minis to japan in the early 90s.

I really would like to see what the unit looks like in a car, before I outlay a bunch of dollars!

Please help
Matt

Here ya go. This is fitted under tha dash but vents through the dash, maybe you mean the one totally under the dash?? Anyway... The A/C only comes out of the rectangular vents. Fresh air through the circular vents. Takes air in via the passenger wheel arch. Must use top & bottom dash pads as per Clubman and newer minis. The heater is covered by the same shroud as the A/C guff, so it will work best with a Rover style bottom crash pad and switch cluster and Rover or Moke heater. The two dial type controls at the bottom left of the rectangular vents are for temp and fan speed. The A/C will fit into this type of early 90's plastic dash or the later wood or fake alloy dash. You can just see the evaporator condenaste drain at the passenger footwell. This goes through a hole in the floor.

cush? no hot water bottle, I'm dissapointed! Besides, I said air con, not a heater! I've got plenty of insulation, cold doesn't bother me!

Thanks Mokesta, much appreciated! I was looking more for pics of the complete under dash unit, rather than the in-dash unit. It is going into my 68 deluxe. Just need to see how it really fits in there before $$ leave my wallet!

Cheers
Matt

Doogie, have you found that the unit has much impact on passenger room in the front seat? Eg, is my missus going to whinge about there being no leg room.

Note: I would be more than happy if that was the only thing my missus whinged about

Acually its not that bad, your legs are no where near the AC unit, plenty of room underneath for your feet to go, i would put up with the whinging to have the lovely coolness of the AC any day.

No mini AC unit that i have seen mounts under the centre of the dash area, i've only seen the one like ours that bolts to under the passenger side of the dash & runs the air up to the centre vents, or the other type that mounts in the same place & the air blows out of the unit, basically freezing the passengers legs.

I think that any missus who has been married for a while somehow seems to have her legs frozen (together)

You dont actually need a mini for that to happen.

Thanks Doogie, That must be the one I meant. I,ve only ever seen pics out of the car, and assumed wrong!

Anyone got pics of the one that freezes the wifes legs? That's the one I'm thinking of getting!
