It has no year stamped on the id plate, and engine number is 9y.... it has blinker/brake light. reflector placed in a line (not triangle shape) at the back of the moke. also at the front it has a badge with BMC moke. it also has a generator and speedo in MPH. any insight into what year etc or what type? it has 10" wheels also

Before 1969, if it has the BMC body ID plate.

Hey Chris.

Re my post about the Moke before you picked it up.

As long as the taillight arrangement hasn't been altered (not likely that it would, because most people fitted after-market lights if they changed them), then it is definitely a 1968 BMC Moke.

This was the first big-wheel Moke and ran from April 1968 to March 1969 (12 months). Quite rare. Flat (little-wheel) bonnet is standard. So too is 998 motor.

Everything else, wheels, bumpers, heater, seats, are all add-ons and do nothing to identify the car.

See our Moke feature in Issue 6 of The Mini Experience for a few pics to help identify correctly - particularly the pic of the Mokes packed for export on p59.

Cheers,
Watto.

^fully agree. It is not a "little wheeler" (anyone can fit 10" rims to a drum braked moke)

Excellent find, not many of these around any more 8)
