Alrighty, back from St George Steering. Gee John knows his stuff!

The front is very good he said, even for a Deluxe/K. He says he's quite surprised that it is that good as he has seen shocking front ends even from factory  :?

Chuffed about that, but he mentioned that I needed new control arm bushes and a new steering rack bush. Will look into that pretty quickly I'd say 8) Otherwise the front is in good nick.

The rear on the other hand, not so good :(

He checked the subframe and it's probably a mm off at most on right but he says the right rear is well out of alignment, it was off the scale and he could not measure it  He says this is definately a bent rear right trailing arm and suggests that I rebuild one and install that before having a look at the rest of the back end.

The camber on the rear right is 30minutes positive :? where as the rear is 25minutes negative (spot on). Golly the rear trailing arm must be bent in more than one dimension :? That would explain alot! The total toe in the rear is 3/16 toed out. But he says that will change once I rebuid the rear right...

So there you have it, crabbing it is for sure, but driveable.

He also told me something interesting: 36psi at the front, 30psi at the rears. Don't listen to everyone else, that's what you should set them up to. Roger that sir

Anyone have a spare right hydro trailing arm?

The standard setting for rear camber was positive from new. Something to do with cross plys and to limit total rear end grip because the rears are same size but carrying far less load.

You may be lucky and just have a bent pivot pin, not whole arm. I've seen a few on mokes where the pin has been bent badly sliding into curbs.

I'm visiting a wrecked mini (really, really wrecked  ) at the local wreckers to remove the suspension in a few days,

it is a hydro mini K, if the trailing arm is any good, and you haven't been swamped with offers, its yours for $1, plus postage!

No worries,

But no gaurantees it is in servicable condition. If you have another offer before i get a chance to remove it, snap it up  .

The poor wreck has been sitting on its guts for about 10 years. Hydro still had pressure in it last week though. But it did have bamboo growing through the boot!

We'll soon see!

I am still having problems getting photos to post so have asked Aaron if he was would post it for me.

The photo shows part of the reason Leffo knows his stuff. He is driving a mini that is crabbing a little to the right *s*

The photo was taken by Lance Ruting in the late 60's
