off topic slightly...

My oldies neighbour worked on the Morris 1100 production line spot welding the body. He said one day he really wanted a cigarette, so walked off the line, had a smoke and watched 2 cars go past, without him touching them.

So somewhere out there were 2 Morries missing critical welds to the body

That was BMC for ya!

The bootlid on my Cooper (NXC269) is the English style, the same as what was on the 1965 deluxe we once had as a daily runner for over 30 years.

Yes I am watching! What colour is your car DWSmith? NXC269, :?

I think I may have seen it at lakeside (QLD) in 99 or 2001?

I must admit, I thought the long bootlid stopped in 64 ish?

I had one in exactly the same colour with a 998. I sold it to a fellow up in Toowoomba, Qld in 1996. I believe he was one of the McCaffertys Coaches dynasty.

Got any more photos of that one Graham?

yeah we forget that so many of the cars in the sixties were sent her as "completely knocked down" and were basically assembled here.

It was easy for Austarlia to substitute boot lids etc as part of the Australian contribution to avoid foreign car tarifs

from previous discussions i've had the inkling that my car was a ckd model... would that be why i've got a uk style boot lid? it's a 64...

my Cooper is just a little darker blue than the the one you posted. Dusk Blue/Nurburging White are the colours. It didn't make Lakeside that year although I tried to persuade my friend who I finally managed to let me buy it from him. It has only been surfacing around the burbs for a bit of a run every few weeks for years, hence the relatively low miles on it, 138,256 in total. Unfortunately I can't make the Mini Muster this weekend either due to family committments so it doesn't make it's debut at the club until next organised run. I would post a picture if I could. Need some direction.

I would love to see a picture! It's quite complicated to do, you need to host the pic somewhere on the net like photobucket, then copy and past img across.

You could send me a pic and I'd do it for you! My E-mail:----

Cheers :P

^^^^ the chrome trim in front of the rear wheel would annoy the crap outta me. Its a beautiful car other than that small indescretion.

Back on topic........ that eBay cooper is past $1000 already, but I think it'll go quiet until the last 5 minutes.
