We the 39th Mini nationals have come & gone, big thanks to South Australia's premier mini club the Mini club SA for putting on another fantastic event, Friday night was a great night for us NSW people, go the beer wall of fame, Saturday was wet & miserable for the show & shine, but at least we did'nt have to wash the cars :D

Many of us thought the khana would'nt go ahead, but Sunday morning dawned with not a cloud in the sky, the khana ground was in suprisingly good shape, after the 1st 20 cars took the greasy layer off fast times where begining to happen. even dust was coming up later in the day. The Hay heros was a hoot once again, congrats to Craig Williams for winning it.

Khana results were

1st Declan Dwyer MCSA Moke
2nd Craig Williams MMCCSA Moke
3rd Gary Kotzur MMCCSA Moke
4th Warwick Butt MCCNSW Cooper S
5th Michael Heslewood MCCNSW Datsun 240Z
6th Darryl Heydon MCCNSW Moke
7th Greg "Doogie" Dobson MCCNSW Cooper S
8th Gavin Gold MMCCSA Mini
9th Haydn Breheny MMCCSA Moke
10th Phil East MCCNSW Mazda 121

MCCNSW won 5 of the 7 classes, but we had to share 1st in the GBS trophy with Hotbricks.

Once again thanks to everyone who made the effort to get there, we will never forget that wind on sunday.

Doogie

PS Nice to meet ya Simon

Hay, it's not about the car, it's not about the venue, it's about the people that come here. Peter Dwyer, Mayor of Hay NSW.

What he said.

Twas another top weekend in Hay. Thankyou to everyone for making the effort to get to the Nationals.

With like minded Mini enthusiasts this event will continue to have a healthy future.

The Mini Nationals in Hay is the 2nd longest continually running motorsport event in Australia (only behind the Bathurst 1000 race).

A BIG Kudos to the Mini Club SA for again running a smooth weekend.

A BIG congrats to our guys and girls (NSW Club) in the Motorkhana and the alcohol drinking efforts over the weekend :D  :D

Well done to Wayne W for winning the 'Hay Bucket Award'. Glad to see the fine NSW Hay tradition continue

Bring on the 40th next year. Hope everyone will have their accomodation booked soon.................

always fantastic - this time I left my voice somewhere and haven't been able to talk all week :(, but worth it :D

Great to read you all "behaved" yourselves as usual.
Looks like we will have to bring the tent for next year! Where else are we going to sleep!
Maybe have to sleep at the Hall

good to see MCCNSW running a datsun 240z and mazda 121 to get points in non mini categories was not enough to secure victory.

Yeah Hay was awesome but i'll compete next year and Hotbricks will definitely have the trophy  But this year I couldn't risk thrashing my 700km old cooper s engine. But next year........ 8)

Spaceboy, what's wrong with running non mini's? There are classes for them so we run cars in those classes, the 240Z came 5th outright, that just deos'nt happen, it's get driven to the place by a very good driver, as the same for the Mazda 121, it was driven by 2 very good drivers as well

We NSW people play by the game as the rules are set, if you don't like it piss off, im sick to death of you whinging Hotbricks lead by the greatest whinger of all time Adrian Flynn, if Adrian drove any where near as good as he shot off he's mouth he would be 1st outright every year, most of you are Flynn puppets.

So if you don't like people who play by the rules don't go to Hay. One more thing, Hotbricks say they win by only using mini's, here's a newsflash, a MOKE is NOT a mini.

Im seriously thinking og bring a rear wheel drive to run in the khana next year & my Cooper S to run in the Hay hero's, just to annoy Hotbricks.

Doogie, proud to play by the rules.

 Doogie I hope you took a breath whilst typing that

good to see the rivalry for the GBS is still strong, just put that East familly in a Mini or moke and no one will get close :D

I thinks you both maybe take it just a tad to serious as the only thing to take serious at hay is the party :D

Jon

Ease up, tiger.

Its a Mini motorkhana and god knows why they have RWD and non-mini/mini derivative classes in the motorkhana.

Hotbricks is strictly a Mini only club, and this is why we do not have entrants using cars like Bubble cars or old Datsuns.

For sure the drivers of the non-mini/mini derivative have some excellent skill, but being a MINI event, wouldn't it be better to see all Minis?

NSW play by the rules, but you also make the most of the rules.

the categories are there to be entered into - different clubs/people have diferent ideas of what can/should be entered into - that sort of argument is normal - what's not normal is how long the event has been running and how long is stayed so strong and so much fun for....

I didn't know that it was the second longest running motorsport event in Australia, after Bathurst.... I would say that "real" Bathurst stopped in the early 90's when they stopped it being a showcase of all different manufacturers and classes and went to 2 different cars that vaguely resemble family cars but don't share any componentry!

where were you this year Ryan?

40 years next year, EVERYONE should be there!!
