That sounds like a good idea and i support it.

Just to make things more equal you are welcome to take my marina and make it an equal contest. I do have one - ridgey didge. It runs and drives to - just not registered

Old wallygog comes out with a random comment!

Who doesn't love ausmini? :o

We'd never have these club-to-club 'argument' or 'BITCHES' as some folk call it, if it wasn't for ausmini

HAY...
Yes its competition.
Yes its 2006.
Yes theres still boongs getting high off petrol in Victoria Square.
But who cares, lets just have some fun and make the MOST OF THE WEEKEND where lots of silly mini people gather from hundreds of kilometers afar all to be together and celebrate the Hay Mini Nationals that will be of the 40th year next year.

Bring on the booze and let the rest follow

I would say that "real" Bathurst stopped in the early 90's

This is a little off the subject but yeah Bathurst no longer exist. It's simply two cars of the same weight and power and are almost exactly the same but have a different badge on the front. Bathurst 1966.... :D The way it should be. Yeah next year everybody has got to go to Hay no question! :!:

I'm also not sure about Simon's second longest motorsport event comment.
The Renault Car Club of Australia celebrates 55 yrs this year, and has been running a motorkhana weekend in a town near Gundagai called Jugiong continously for at least 45 yrs now.

It;s their equivalent of Hay. Usually on the Australia Day long weekend (when it is one) and was only missed once when we had to postpone due to bushfires, when we ran it in April instead of January.

Some MCCNSW people are also members of RCCA and have been known to come along for a blast as well. Like Hay, it is also a get-together for reno clubs from other states.

Both events are icons in their respective clubs and should continue - just a bloody long way to go for a motorkhana I say!

Kev, isn't it amazing that no one bitches & moans if somebody uses a non Renault vechicle at the Renault nationals, people are there to enjoy friendship & the event.

Doogie,

It wasn't meant as a poke at the politics of the mini clubs, just that this event had been running longer in response to Simon's post.

But you are correct, RCCA enjoys a relatively harmonious existence unlike many clubs over the years.

We are happy that people turn up, regardless of vehicle, so much so that there is a trophy for the highest placed production reno as a sign that others may also participate.
Until the clio sport came along, the numbers of renaults running was starting to become dire. I've even heard of die hard cooper S drivers sliding into a Clio sport for the weekend. :D

:? I was actually quoting Kyoda (Julie) - she said that back on the first page of this thread.... that started out really nice as a few people saying how much fun Hay is, to a few people bashing away at state v's state rivalres etc. - which really is a big ****ing wank - I wish everyone who has a problem with it would just shut the bloody hell up and keep it to themselves - as usual it's the noisy minority that shits everyone off - and I mean that in a friendly way of course

Chris - I'm with you.. I'm a Victorian and VMCI member, but pretty remote from the Vic club so I don't know them that well, my best mini owning friend is from Hotbricks SA and he's a star - I stayed in his cabin this year, and thanks to Ausmini I have a bunch of new interstate friends - which I love to meet up with as often as I can

Hay wouldn't be Hay without a good whinge about non-minis.

The more rivalry the better I say.

I reckon we need more competitions during the weekend.
An 8-ball competition on Friday night at the pub maybe.
Observation run Saturday afternoon that ends at scrutineering.
A bonfire in the paddock Saturday night would be awesome (now that the caravan park is deserted), back to the good old days of standing around the fire just so a different club isn't the last one out there.

Bring on 2007.

KB - I think the statistic is that it's the 2nd longest CONTINIOUSLY running motorsport event - has been on every year on the same weekend (afaik) for 39 years. Not even Bathurst can boast that anymore!!

On the whole non-mini thing, I have to say this arguing is just shitty. We all like minis, and we all want more people to come to Hay, but who's going to want to come if this is the crap they think they'll have to deal with.

On the subject of the Datto, the driver of that car is the competition captain of our club, who works tirelessly to organise almost all of our motorsport events. He very rarely gets to compete as he is almost always required to official due to lack of other people to help out. He is a rally nut, and doesn't have a going mini at the moment. According to a couple of whingers with crap for brains, someone like this who has probably been going to Hay longer than you've been alive shouldn't be allowed to compete

Get real, and have a think about the crap you're talking. Yes, it's an event MAINLY for minis, but why the hell shouldn't other cars be allowed to have a go. It's for mini enthusuasts - not all of whom have minis at any given time. Call the rear wheel drive, and non-mini catergories support races!! In your logic, there wouldn't be V8's or sports cars or anything else at the Formula one Grand Prix!!

I cannot believe that you guys in mini or moke let a Datsun 240Z beat any of you  hang your head in shame the lot of you
I think Jon hit the nail on the head. Some people just can't stand that a car that shouldn't be able to touch a mini in a Khana beat an awful lot of you!! Stop bitching about him and go and watch a couple of his runs - damn good driver, and VERY spectacular to watch that huge car being thrown around courses designed for little minis!!

[/rant]

PS. There is a MINI-ONLY event there - it's called Hay Heroes!
