Im my Cooper S replica I got a 1275LS tacho which is redlined at 5500. What is the real redline of a Cooper S MK1. Is the MK2 any different?

People please list all the tacho redlines on various standard models including the 1100S if anyone knows, help me out.

Hmmm...
Well I seem to remember a Cooper S (Mk1 or 2) is good for 7000, 1100S 5500, Cooper 997 & 998 were 6500 approx.
Stocko 850-998-1098 engines had single valve springs that bounced at 5,500 or a little more.
BTW- none of these cars ever had a tacho fitted standard.
Only Clubman GT, Clubbie S, SS, LS got one. A not very accurate or well damped one, at that...

My cooper s (MK1) regually see 7,000 rpm in motorkhana's, does'nt seem to bother it too much.

Hay, it's not about the car, it's not about the venue, it's about the people that come here. Peter Dwyer, Mayor of Hay NSW.
