Hi Everyone,

My alternator has had it and I want to put in the biggest baddest one I can (I plan on using lots of electrics :)

I have spent hours looking at the old posts and cant find enough info.

Can you supply me with Alternator make/models please. What would you get if $$ were not a problem (they are for me, but just trying to find out the 'best')
Also, what output are they.

Cheers,
Peter.

PS: Its for a '76 998cc clubbie which will have the Pulsar dizzy in it... but thats not so important is it?

I have kept reading and see that I can get one from Convertible Mini in QLD for a few about $150-$190

I know I can whack on a Pulsar N13 one... about 75amp (<right??)

What else? cmon guys... I KNOW you guys have electrical probs... you own Minis!!!

Peter.

Sigma Bosch unit. No idea of output. It works well, and the twin slide bolt mounts allow it to be fitted "upside down" on an A or B series.

Can you run everything you need to? (And if so, what do you need to run :)

Peter.

Sorry to harp on this but I am getting my alternator done tomorrow.
I basicallly had 2 major issues.
1. Alternator not charging (not a good thing)
I could get it reco'd or I could get another one (better bosch one reco'd)
So, I am going to go to the wrecker and grab one from another car (n12 pulsar??? or Telstar??? (as long as the width is right, right??)

2. There is a fuse box on the left side of the engine bay (hood open standing in front of car) and the terminals are CRAPOLA ... all dirty, messy, grimy, etc.
I will be cleaning them and sanding, etc but the Auto Leccy said its best to bypass the 'box' and have an inline fuse.... I dunno... but thats the least of my worries at the moment.

So, I ask again, what do you find is the best alternator or best replacement.
Am I right to go for the N12 Pulsar? From what I looked at the N13 wont fit (brackets, etc)

Heelp please!

Peter.

The N13 Pulsar one is what you want, make sure you get a bosch one, not the internal fan model, not sure the make.

I recently fitted one to mine, big improvement over the standard mini one.

Just follow the instructions one here somewhere on the mods required to fit it.

OK, N13 is what I am going to look for... right, spanners, sockets, now just need to find a Pulsar.

Peter.
