So this mini I've just got has fairly recently been given a full set of Contessas. I had them off on Saturday to bleed the brakes, and it looks like the one on the rear left is rubbing on the shocks quite badly (though given that the wheels are newish, could be damage from whatever was on it previously).

For the time being, I'm thinking I'll get around it by changing them for something narrower, but could the rubbing be an indication of some other problem, seeing as it's only affecting the one wheel?

Do you have spacer drums on the rear ??? if not you will need to fit them for the wheels to clear

Well, check the tyre that was on there... is it also worn on the inside?
If it was a previous tyre then no point changing the contessa right!

If it IS the new tyre, check that you have a spacer on that drum ... also, do the others have spacers?
Since its only one wheel then maybe someone forgot to put on the 4th spacer...

Do you hear it when you drive?

Peter.

The wheel in question doesn't have spacers, but none of the others do either.

The contessas were already on when I bought it, so I don't know about whatever was there previously.

I haven't driven it much (the brakes are also a work in progress, and I live at the bottom of a hill), but I did notice it rubbing a bit when we were doing the brakes. I guess I'll see how it goes for a bit before I decide anything.

Give the offending rear trailing arm a bit of a shake to see if it has movement either sideways or up and down. It could be that the pivot pin and bush is worn.

Also check that the offset on this wheel is the same as the offset on each of the other wheels. Theses days wheels can come from a variety of sources and not necessarily as a set.
