Have you thought if joining the original Mini club in Queensland? It's the one that the MOCQ split from. The Queensland Mini Car Club. This club IS a Queensland club with a very active north Queensland division that include sporting events with other clubs.
here's their address;

QMCC
PO Box 1426
Fortitude Valley Qld

The word is that many members are now going back and they are slowly getting the numbers up.

Over the years I've been a member of the mini car club of NSW , the mini car club of Qld and the Qld mini owners club due to being near Grafton and almost halfway between all of them . Firstly was in the NSWMCC and found then (I'm talking 88 , 89 and 90 I think) to be uninterested in members outside Sydney , I believe they have changed now though and have regional branches . I can't speak highly enough of the Whitcombes though as they arranged for me to be picked up (often by Wayne) and taken to runs and meetings when I was in Sydney and carless .

The MCCQLD (Brisbane was an hour or two closer but they had Gold Coast runs which were closer too) was reasonable in the early to mid 90's but there was a definite anti NSW member feeling at the time . Not to mention the time I took the sports850 to a show under the story bridge in Brisbane and was harrassed and insulted by the clubs "experts" for "making up" a mini and trying to make fools of them . One member who was nearby at the time actually came up afterwards and apologised saying the club looked like splitting because of the attitude of some members .

Then I was in the MOCQLD in the late 90's early 2000's) and found them great and friendly to interstate members despite copping a slight dig in a club mag for winning a raffle on a run ("the prize was unfortunately not won by one of us") despite having towed a mini with a blown head gasket home (Then Cabarita) with my moke and later helping the owners load it onto a truck .

All clubs have the cliques in them I've found but the QLDMOC was about the friendliest to out of city/region members in the times I've been part of them . My comments above are most likely not current for the clubs involved but were what I found at the time when I was involved with them .

Damn right, and usually allowed to fester by members who don't get involved, want everything and bitch and complain about most things.

Clubs are only as good as the people making them work (or not, as the case may be). The benefits of being in a club, however, often outweigh the crap that can and does go on.

BTW....the NSWMCC had branches in Canberra and Newcastle in the 1960s.
