I warned you all there would be plenty of dumb questions coming from me now that I have bought the van so here goes :)

The brakes had been sitting for quite a while with no fluid in the system and when I looked inside the reservior it was completely rusty. I have a Morris 1100 sitting here and decided to pinch the one off it to replace the vans rusty one. There is a difference between the two and I would like to know if they are interchangeable and the only difference is the size or whether I can't put the Morry master cylinder on the van. See picture below.

Next question. Should there be any difference in the brake systems on vans to sedan Minis. The brake line on my van ends in the middle at the back as per the picture below. Should it go to a Pressure Valve Assembly that is fixed to the subframe where the other arrow points to :?:

Last question for now with the picture below. What are the metal brackets on the tray behind the drivers seat for :?:

Thanks very much.

The Morris 1100 reservoir is larger in volume but I believe it should be OK....it might give you less braking power...Mike can answer that one.

Pretty sure you need to get a proportioning valve just like a sedan.

Those extra brackets look like someones welding/pop rivetting work to me...

The bigger tank master cylinder from the Morris 1100 is also the same as the Cooper S. The reason for the bgger tank is so you don't run out of fluid when your brake pads wear out. (drum brakes do not need as much fluid because when they wear out you adjust them) If you have it, fit it!
While you are at it, you need to change all the rubbers in the brake system (and clutch as well) The hoses will all need replacing.

1) The 1100 uses a different bore and a taller reservour for the disk brakes. It will work on the van but you may find it will make the brakes lock up a bit earlier if you are running drums. If you are running front disks on the van, it's a good upgrade!

2) The van and sedan pressure valve is the same, and yes, the brake hose you have arrowed does screw into the pressure valve where the other arrow is pointing.

3) The brackets - no idea, appears to be a previous owner's addition. I've never seen a van with those before.
