Do you think it is easier/better to put doors back together on or off the car?

I'd do them off the car. Easier to get them at the right angle for the tricky bits. I'd have plenty of pillows and old blankets etc though

Id do them on. Purely because I found the doors a bastard to put on again.

i gonna redo molly's odd door soon. take it off and sand it down a bit before giving it a fresh layer of spray paint. cheapo P plater style i know. i am gonna take the door off and also put a bullette mirror on it while i'm at it.

If you put one of those bullet mirrors on make sure you align it up properly and can see out of it first time around. Otherwise the mig will have to come out and you will be welding up the wrong holes..

Best bet is use strong double sided tape to ensure you get the best position then mark the holes, drill and mount it...

I plan to knock up a jig to hold them so I can work on them in the comfort of my garage which is pretty small. However, the climate in Wellington is less than tropical which probably influences my decision.

I would hang the doors first, then paint. I always seem to have big dramas lining up doors & bonnets, which give plenty of opportunity to chip paint

Doors are already painted. Just wanted to know about putting all the stuff back on them.

Leave doors bare. Lay a blanket on the sill and sit the door on it. Then attach the door to the hinges. Nip up the nuts and remove blanket.

Get the alignment right and tighten the nuts / bolts. THEN fit your rubbers and glass etc.

Also, from past experience it is best to prime your panels off the car, then bolt them all on and check alignment and fit. Sometimes you will need to 'manipulate' a panel to make it fit right. This is best done in primer, and NOT when you have painted, polished and fitted your panels.

They arent as heavy and unmanageable when they are bare... glass, etc, adds up pretty quickly - especially when you have to stick your tongue out on funny angles for long times trying to locate the door.
