Long time sine i posted but anyway..

i may be getting a new mini with roof damage for a parts car. but since my current mini is nearing completion i am looking for something new to work on. and i thought why waste a mini shell so i am researching a possible roadster, roofless mini, i remember seeing pictures of someones conversion that had colour coded peices in steps. does anyone know where to find that and anymore useful information?

failing that i am planning to make a trailer if the body is beyond repair. so wish me luck and any help is appreciated

That one is a Domino Pimlico as Mike said , it's a fiberglass body that was made in England to fit all the mini mechanicals from rusted out mini's (from them putting salt on the roads in winter) . It's a completely different kettle of fish to cutting an Aussie steel mini body into a convertible as these were purpose built semi convertibles . Find a good engineer and talk to them about what you want to do and they'll tell you how to go about it , it won't be cheap though but it can be done .

Just talk it through with your engineer before you start cutting and have a really good bank account behind you for the testing and inspections . It is possible , this one is fully engineered in NSW but it isn't easy when you do something this radical .

I don't mind that at all. The only thing I'm not fussed about is the front spoiler.

But then again, would you go to that much trouble or just buy a Healy or an MG ? I suppose it's a one off that no one else has.

And as well as that , Zac's been playing with Mini's since they were launched . He did his apprenticeship at P and R Williams in Sydney (one of his first jobs was converting 850's into sports850's) and was also a mechanic with Brian Foley so mini's are somewhat ingrained . His former mini (QIK850) was a red 850 that was turbo'd , then supercharged and later a bigger turbo before being wiped out in a crash , so this was just a progression from there . The body is actually a 997 cooper that I bought partially restored in Goulburn in the early 90's , I had too many projects and Zac was looking for a good body as a base ....
