Well guys just purchased my KKR 280 turbo. I have also pulled the engine out to put in a HD exedy clutch and the new water pump. I will also be making my own headers for the turbo and if I can swing the cash a FMIC. So watch this space and hopefully this will be completed by the October Mini's Down Under thingo. Pictorial updates to come.

Cheers

Matt

Mick if I am on the road by October and the baby is born a little before I am there. What are you guys doing about accommodation? Anyway here is a pic of the new turbo. Also I flogged the other turbo TD05 on Ebay and managed to get exactly what I paid for it so that's a bonus.

Is that one of those Chinese Ebay Turbos ?

Be very, very careful .....Have yet to hear a good thing about them ....

Apparantly there was a batch with bad cast-iron in the exhaust housing, and they would mysteriously "Explode" . . . . for your trouble they would replace the turbo . . but not the now-destroyed engine....

I Hope its not one of those, though, and you have many happy years of thrashing the arse out of it !! :D

J

Yeah Kaz, taking a bit of a punt. It has a 6 month warranty but as you say not much use when your engine is rooted. But KKR supply turbos to Opel in Germany and I have noticed that they are being used in a twin turbo kit being marketed to US Pontiac GTO owners. Still suck it and see, they are being sold by a few mobs but I bought mine through Otomoto, who actually have a physical shop in Sydney. If I get this thing ready in time for MDU or maybe a bit later we will have to organise a dyno or just a run and we can see how she goes...Still you would have to agree that it looks nice

Cheers

Matt

Yeah Dan, I think the recipe of:

New turbo
40mm ID equal length Matty Super Special (TM) turbo headers
Installation of the Sard RRFPR
Front Mount IC
New HD clutch

And the rectification of the leaking water pump should make this a little bit of a weapon. Still a few months off yet. But I would say by the end of September if the IC comes together.

M
