Measure the ball diameter, it should be 9/16".
It's a bit looser fit than the normal valve. That's the idea of it, any crap in the oil won't jam it in the bore.

Yeah it's 9/16. It's getting used to being pulled out now. When I open it up it just rolls out like a obedient puppy dog.

News flash: dit dit dah dah dit dit dit....
I found a crappy gauge in the Sunshine (how useful are clubbies!) and plugged it in. I've got a bung gauge, that is all. You beauty, I never lost the faith although there was a few low moments and a little wailing..

All sing:

All things dull and ug-ly,
All creatures, short and squat,
All things rude and na-sty,
The Lord God made the lot.

Each little snake that poisons,
Each little wasp that stings,
He made their prudish venom,
He made their horrid wings.

All things sick and cancerous,
All evil great and small,
All things foul and dangerous,
The Lord God made them all.

Each nasty little hornet,
Each beastly little squid,
Who made the spiky urchin?
Who made the sharks? He did!

All things scant and ulcerous,
All pox both great and small,
Putrid, foul and gangrenous,
The Lord God made them all.

Amen.

Woo Hoo!

I have a spare gauge just for this reason..... and because it is a spare!!

Same with temp gauge. so when a reading seems odd, first thing I check is the gauge itself.

Mick, what type of gauge do you need? I have a couple of different ones here.

I have one out of a Mini K, it is untested (it is not the one from Kazjim) but if you want I'll grab a pic and email it to you at lunch time.

Might be better off getting a new one though, unless you want the face to be identical to the one you have now.

Cheers
Matt

yeah I looked at the repro, and if the face was the same I would order one.

I'll drop you a PM.

Mick

These Smiths oil gauges are pretty reliable, maybe there is a blockage or the gauge's movement is in need of some motion lotion....

 eBay.....
