Pulsar N12 with Hitachi electronic dizzys used a Jap 1.5 ohm coil standard, with NO ballast resistor.
It just happens to be the same resistance as a GT40R.
Some other electronic ign systems use a 1.1 ohm or even less.
No big deal.
Ballast resistors are used in POINTS ignitions, not electronic.
<edit> the current draw is probably greater, but for how long is the question. They don't seem to get hot, as they do in a points system with no ballast resistor.
