I can remember when a dollars worth of petrol took us from Parramatta to the beaches and back.

It also covered a whole nights cruising up and down the streets of Parramatta, with traffic light drags and with four others in the car. Wasn't (in this case) a mini though.

They have predicted fuel prices will hit $6 a litre within 10 years.

I remember 55 cents when I started driving.... I think :?

but I'm more than happy to pay $2 a litre, it just shits me that the money goes into the generall goverment coffers instead of into enviromental impact and alternative fuel sources....

As much as I dont like the fuel prices, and I dont even drive, that is about the most sensible thing I have heard.

hell - back in the day when i first got the zed 95 was only about $1.16 (what i wouldnt do to be able to get 95 for $1.16 again :( )

anyway - paid $1.58 sunday mourning for ultimate ($102.64 worth of petrol is not cool...) - i almost cried? hopefully it will stay below $2 a litre until i get out of uni and get a job (ie have a source of income) after that it may as well get as expensive as it likes (less people on the road is a good thing in my books) :)

Usually you don't need to buy 50 liters of drinking water at a time, and not having this water will not cause you to lose your job.

In 1996/97 I used to drive down to the airport (about 6 or 7 km from home) ..... and put $10 worth of AvGas in my old Corolla. AvGas was between 98c and $1 per litre while Super was about 65c.

Didnt make my Corolla drive any faster..... but the smell was fantastic 8)

My car used to run on $5 a week being used everyday, but that was years and years ago now. Ahhhh the good old days.

I wouldn't mind paying so much for fuel if the government didn't take half of it in tax (or however much it is)

Excise and GST on petrol - a tax on a tax.

I was reading somewhere, the price in the Arab countries is around 26 cents a litre.
It was 30 odd cents but the king lowered the price when he thought the cost was effecting his people.
King Howard say's f##k ya.

When I bought my first Mini way back in 1967 I could fill it up for less than $2.00. That was when petrol was around 36c /gallon..... :?
