Smokie and I must be the only old farts on the list still with their memory intact.

It was around 38c/gal when I started driving. For you young'n's, that translates to about 8.5c/lt.

Thems was the days when I used to say that I'd give up smoking when it got to 40c a pack (I think it was around $1.20 by the time I actually kicked the habit  )

When I used to hillclimb with the Mini way back then, I would half fill it with super and half methol benzine to give it a bit of a kick..

Methol benzine was around 42c /gallon at the time..

Only parts of the memory are still intact VicMini13 or maybe it's just I don't want to remember some things????

Now what you do is, include the hourly rate you earned at that time, and calculate the percentage of your paypacket that was spent on fuel........ Compare that percentage to todays equivalent to work out how much more "out of pocket" you TRULY are

Ok, when I was an 18yo apprentice I was taking home $12.00/week and taking out $3.00/week in petrol.

Now down where I am, it takes $25.00 to fill the Mini.. :?

To fill a Mini in the late 60's early 70's it was 1.65% of my annual salary as a first year out Pharmacist (one tank of petrol a week) It is now 0.02%
of my annual salary - Me no complain (too much) Now the Subaru - that's a different story more like 3%
