Aw - Chris - dont say it that way

I just want someone to concentrate on the issue that affect his short term life. What am i gonna do with a shed full of engines that are of no value to me. I am not playing with minis to make money - just for the pleasure of minis.

Tait- will ring tomorrow afternoon some time sort out some details

Novo- castrians - somebody there willing to help with experience ???????????????????

Okay - I like the way this is developing - we need a conversion gasket kit as well thought.

Okay if this is going to be a picnic weekend and one where Ausminists meet then I will bring the motor across as well as my gear. It cant be next weekend or fathers days weekend though.

If we start on sat morning we can have it running by lunch sunday with enough help. I have almost every thing we need.

Perhaps some one has a high lift trolley jack - mine is a K-mart type and takes three goes to get a car on jack stands high enough.

Tait - what sort of mini is it ????

Cool - hey you still havent given me your details either. Want to get you the cash ASAP Thursday(the bonnet itself can wait - just as long as you get the cash...)

I will be glad to pick up the VRS kit as well. May have to coerce the wife for the entire W/E though...

I have a suitable trolley jack and stands that could be loaned if someone can transport them from Sydney to Newcastle and back - I'm unlikely to get a leave pass to go to Newcastle myself in the next few weeks.

Harvey/ Mike,

Have trolley jack, will travel! Just need a bit of notice to get time off work. Let me know the dates asap so I can swap some shifts. I need the engine swapping experience for the future anyway!

Cheers,

Scott

let me think on this

A good labour force is good but Tait (thats Harvey's real name) needs some people that have been around a mini before

It could be a good venue to teach people how to pull and motor and how to do it safely and properly

Just let me think on the ramifications as well as the pros and cons.

.

Mike - you're truly amazing.

How many other people here on Ausmini would donate a motor to a fellow Mini lover - plus offer to chuck it on the truck and deliver it.

Mike has helped me out via this forum and I'm sure he has helped YOU.

All together now - 3 cheers for Mike.

Harvey - I'd love to help but it's a bit far mate but good luck with the engine and more particularly with your HSC.

Cheers to everybody who is offering help.

I wish you had answered all my questions.
I have a soft spot for students especially those coming up to major cross roads like the HSC. I know how it feels when your whole world comes crashing down like when an engine fails and you are looking at time and money you dont have.

I was going to suggest that I have a few engines here that would get you out of trouble. They are second hand but were working when they came out of their cars. Beyond that there are no warranties but any one of them should be a driveable motor.

I am offering you the motor - its free - its a block with crank, pistons etc, no head but never been pulled apart. I am also hoping that some one closer to you will help you change over the engines onto the gearbox and get you back on the road to your next steps. Metal cross beams are okay but hydraulic engine lifters and a bit of experience goes just like Pecks Paste - ask your grandfather about that one.

Anyway, this way you are up for about $50 in gaskets, some time and then get back to whats important. That is the HSC

pm me for my telephone number if you are in NSW

Anyone else willing to help a kid out ??????????????????????

I wish I knew about this site when I had to sell my last mini due to lack of funds and lack of tools

Nice to see there are some lovely people out there willing to help a person in need.

you are a legend

Okay - thanks for the good wishes.

Now I have given some thought and a few people have either contacted me or indicated that they would help and they would regard it as training. I think thats a good idea - so can we develop it in a new thread called

Mini Engine Change Weekend

Tait,

I have a car trailer that I can move your car with, if need be. I don't have the skills to help with your motor change though. It looks as though you may be ready for the 9th in Newcastle the way help is coming.

Good luck, Alf.
