Well,,,the other day (last wednesday) i whipped up this little toy for motorkhanas/hillclimbs/autocross etc,,, Yamaha R1 engine, 140hp, 6 speed sequential gearbox with mini limited slip diff & the usual little basic minimal frame buggy type idea--->



Then!!!!!!!!!.......I thought that it could use just a "little" bit more power--->



so i chucked the good old Turbo charged Alloy V8 engine & box into it, 350hp +

Am i really insane or what???????

cause i think it would work ok, don`t you?????

It`d have to at least be some fun hey?

Would it be practical ? That depends on whether you would like to have traction at any stage of the khana .... I can see it being great for anyone lost and running late , all they'd have to do was look for the huge collumn of tyre smoke from your run and they'd find the course

The gearbox is underneath the donk, it`s mounted to an Austin 1800 box

I think both of the options would lack traction, although it depends how big and wide the tyres are going to be. I think it would probably just be better to go for the R1 engine because it is lighter. You can always give it an upgrade later if you feel it needs it .If you make it rear-wheel drive it would have better traction, but then you would have to modify the frame.

Saw a homemade go kartand my friends workshop. Its a sort of buggy thing but it has quad bike wheels and tyres on the back, driven by a 250cc, 5sp Yamaha and an incredibly narrow track. No engine cut out system if the throttle sticks.

Looks like small boat trailer wheels on the front and a single cable operated disc on the rear axle. My friend was on the point of refusing to work on it - had computer/ignition problems - because of the potential for someone to die in it.

Just the sort of thing you wouldn't want to hit a stump or rock in while high speeding across a paddock.

What is sanity anyway TMM?? I find it is only my insanity that keeps me sane...

All I will say is make sure you have a real big, strong rollcage on it...

but no seatbelts...
