Its not agrigcultural... its "Aussie Engineering" :D

its a constant R&D Project that I never got around to finishing

yea, an engine-bay Booster is out of the question.. so is routinely adjusting your clutch or re-attaching the wores on your brake light switch......

BUT it is cheap, fun and above all, an incredible boost in mid-range torque !

hi guys, i beg to differ on the drivetrain thing here, if the box is built right then it shpould last if you treat it well.

i rebuilt my K box over 4 years ago now with a hardend diff pin and i have not had any problems with it at all, does not cruch in any gear at any spead and i aint no nana driver either, a few trach days and a few visits to eastern creek drags and still no probs. 15 psi all day everyday even up to 18 if i get board.

good bearings and minimise the clearences and away you go.

i am running a metro turbo style of setup but a T28 this motor would owe me 8k or their abouts and its been in for about 5 years now and get a massivce thrash every time i start her.

Guys I totally agree the drivetrain can handle the power but you do have to be gentle on takeoffs. If the guy who bought my old turbo engine is listening please shout out. It went to Caloundra on the sunshine coast. I didnt build it a guy called Nick Heike did and it was sheer brilliance. Used a kkk dryer, 2 inch SU that was mounted at 45' angle and just fitted under the bonnet. The turbo sat behind no 4 cylinder and an external wastegate sat over the flywheel housing. Was oh so neat and put out around 160-180hp depending on boost. Would run up to 20psi. Was in a black 850 in Sydney before I bought it, if anyone remembers the car from a few years back. He did blow a few boxes though and settled on a straight cut to do the job.

i live 15 minutes from caloundra, I dont see many minis around here these days (except for the people i know). There is a sunshine coast arm of MOCQ tho, the president of that may be able to help.

Id love to see that engine  .

No problem- just run the pipes inside thru the heater hose grommets, and bung the servo under the dash like the works rally cars did. :P

Anyhow, real men (like us!) don't need no stinkin' servos..

Mate I recently sold a turbo engine to a guy on the Sunshine Coast, hopefully he gets online here as I dont have any photos of the engine and it was a sweeeeeet bit of equipment. I sold it as a complete unit for $4500 and everything was there, but hadnt been run for a few years. As for which one to go for. The turbos are a bit difficult as you are limited for space to cool the thing unless you dont mind chopping into your car a bit. It doesnt really matter which route you go, as soon as you make big power the box will always be the weak point. As long as you are not brutal with your shifts and opt for a decent box ie 4sp straight cut or better if you have the money should hold together. Prices vary. Power costs money if you want it to be reliable. My turbo motor cost around 8k complete and my supercharged unit owes me 11k, but if I did it again would cost me a lot less as RnD was a bit expensive. Any Q's drop me a line.

very nice setup, but i still dont know why they run an external wastegate on a mini engine, be much easier to have internall wastegate imo.

crap, what a wild little setup, Is anyone aware of the cost of Link Automotive S/C kit. Last time I enquired was around the $5000 mark. This was the lot though, 1 3/4 in S.U., blower, belt, pulleys, mounts/brackets. Every thing to just bolt on and go.

A blower has been the only thing that have always wanted to do but never got round to it.

NOthing special, just a re-vamp and optimisation of what is already there....

Moving the auxillary radiator and Oil Cooler to a wheel arch, hopefully adding the intercooler (if i ever finish it...)
Changing to Honda Brakes and Pulsar Dizzy (Gareth.... where are you ?) .....
Some minor rust work and hopefully a new exhaust...... Ports to tailpipe.. the tail section isnt that bad, but the dump pipe and the down pipe are a little restrictive.....

Some head work, inlet manifold revsion and some "minor" carb tweaks.......

all in all, a day or two's work ! (hopefully for an extra bag of ponies and some extra reliability!)

J
