not a bashing at all ,just hard to justify the cost of this tank from anyone because they will all be simular in price.

I think its easier to convert the old tank with a lift pump, surge tank and vl pump for less cost

Hi just wondering with the fuel tanks that go in the wheel well, where do you put the spare wheel. I thought you had to have room for a spare wheel to get registered.

Thanks

stick an alloy fuel cell in there, will be a better unit then the rover tank saftey wise for one...

with the brickworx bashing, i thought you werent allowed to bad mouth companies on here, i was told not to anyway, steve does good work, and if you dont like the price, find someone else..

Not bashing brickworx at all, have i said anything bad about his service or products? I do believe we are allowed to have an oppinion on price..and in case you havn't noticed you can't find someone else, since he is the only one in the country with rover parts that i know of?

Hence he has a monopoly on the market...competition is a good thing.

Fuel cells are all great when said and done, but some people like the idea of a daily driver with some sort of boot space..

By the end of the project you will have modified so much you will be looking for a quick win. Time over again I would go the Rover tank.

Screw the spare tire, something more mechanical will break down in a mini as opposed to a spare tire. NRMA road side service ftw.

Well a 45L fuel cell is nearly half the price..so no way i am going to go the rover tank!

I'm going to get a 38L alloy tank and it's about 2/3rds the price of the rover 8)

More bling baby

i have bought heaps of stuff off brickworx, steve is great to deal with and i'll continue to buy stuff... not "bashing" anybody mate.
but what we are confused about (or me anyway) is i remember seeing a rover tank for sale on ebay once for 100, then 200 and now 330.
just sucks a bit thats all. but when your the only guy with the product you make your prices and either people buy it or they dont.

The alloy fiuel cell gets my vote everyday of the week.

Its cheaper, safer and if done right can enhance the handling of the car.

This is a fuel cell I had made up for El Gato:

Image

Contoured to fit the mini shape, and using a std Aussie Starlet fuel pickup and sender:

Image

The boot space was modified first, and the fuel cell designed to fit the space. The boot floor and battery box were suffering from a bad case of tin-worm anyway, so out with the grinder:

And this is how it sits:

Volume is 45 litres which is more than enough. Also, the centre of gravity is kept way down, about 400mm below the std mini tank, and inline with the centre of the rear subframe.

Regards,
Tricky

Mini K,

I have split the exhaust just in front of the subframe so it is a twin 2 1/2 inch system out the back.

This pic will show it best.

All you need is just some forward planning.

Could have just done a drop tank like a SLR5000, would have saved all the sheet metal work.

willy,
Autotechnica monza carbon fibre
Find them here -

Minimetoy,
The boot was very rusted so had to be replaced anyway. It seemd to make sense to incorporate the tank design into the new boot floor. As for SLR500/A9X/L34 Torana (one of which I owned) the drop tank sits external to the boot underneath the car. In a mini, how would you fill it - the filler pipe would have to go into the boot, through the boot space then out the boot floor into the tank. Seems silly to me.

Tricky[/url]

Cool tank Archangel007

2 Questions. Where does your battery go? And is an Aussie starlet pump going to supply enough fuel or will you just use it as a lift pump with a larger one inline?

Cheers
