The rubber on mine is just from a bicycle inner tube....works a treat and has a built in curve.

Go down to Clark rubber and get some Rubber strip which has a thicker section at the top - when you look at it from the end it looks like the letter 'P'.

Probably cost about $30 - $40 max and looks really good

I like that idea better. I was in the local rubber shop (oo err) yesterday and it's amazing all the speciality stuff you can get. Also managed to get a generic boot seal off the roll which fits just perfectly.

Some older cars eg. VW Beetles use a rubber strip designed for this.
Should be available at yer local rubber shop.
As for Clark Rubber, I was disappointed with their range and prices on car rubber stuff... :?

yesss.............. that P shaped rubber sounds good,I could also run it around the door hinges and the seams :o . while I am there I can have a geez at some potential boot and door seals. I was thinking of using some captive bolts for the flares (you know what I mean the ones with no bolt or screw head that tighten up from the rear) has anyone used these?

Cheers guys

Oh wats sicka Flex?

Selleys don't make it. The nearest they have is a product called `All Clear'- it's not polyurethane like Sikaflex, but you can paint it when dry.

Sikaflex 291 is definitely available from Bias Boating Warehouse, probably Whitworths too- or any place that sells automotive painting supplies to the trade.

Supercrap has it also surprisingly enough, about $16 each from memory.

I'd probably stick with the standard gaskets for the door hinges, there are rubber ones available too.

sikaflex is also used to stick together new lotus's and lambo's etc most modern sports cars. they stick the panels together and then heat treat it. ment to be a shitload better then welding etc because it doesnt weaken whatever its sticking together
