coming home today I hit a pot hole fairly severly and as I went past I heard a sound like something hitting the under neath of the car. Now on the drivers side the suspension or gap between the wheel arc has reduced causing my flares to rub. Could something have broke or come off or just bent ??????

Wet or dry suspension ? Dry look at the alloy trumpet that's sort of behind the shock absorber and see if it's collapsed , or if it's skewed off to one side if the ball at the end has snapped . If it's wet suspension look underneath for a leak where a line or bag might have let go .

No cush , that would have been twang , not bang , don't you remember being a teenager and trying to get one off your date ?

minigirl , if it is dry suspension and the trumpet has collapsed (they can do from corrosion or just fatigue) it might be a good chance to put hi-lo's on it for more adjustment .

I will have a look when my bf gets home. It has dropped about 5 mm to 10mm in comparison to the other side.

I choose not to dignify cush's comment with a reply

could be a bent top or bottom arm, contact your local council with what happened and you may get a rebate if there is any damage, get a quote from a mechanic.

this happened to me on my deluxe with hydrolastic (wet) suspension, the ball on the end of the trumpet broke the mounting or cup it was in.

in any case, its time to go see your local mini place
