Did you do anything to the thermostat before putting it in ? I normally drill 2 X 1/4" holes in the flat of the thermostat to get it to open earlier and also a bonus if the thermostat doesn't work as it lets some water through . This was on advice from an older mini mechanic and I haven't had any problems . Mind you , on previous ones I've used a blanking sleeve and then removed the outlets for the bypass hose to avoid having to replace the %$@# when it blows ....

If you can get one yes - that would be fine for summer.
Normal temp required is 82 degrees.

Read the post about having two thermostats - one for summer and one for winter. It was only a short time back and others were having carby icing problems.

This is the set-up with extra heater core and o/flow tank.
Runs cooler,but still gets hot if held up at too many traffic lights,then once going cools down really well.

with summer comming along you can also remove a heater coil rfom a clubby heater into the same postion as above.....74o thermo for summer

This is a clubby heater core fitted 8)
