Glad it worked out for you.
I'll pass the news onto the original owner of that engine, he'll be pleased it has gone to a good home.

If it's the engine I'm thinking of, it originally came out of a fairly late model clubman van that went to the gulgong mini graveyard - aka mike's place.

Aaron was going to make a trailer out of the rest of it, but never quite got there. There's probably not much of it left now.
Cheers

Yes it was that motor - or at least the block - it went to Tait's as a long motor (ie no gearbox) but it still had the smog head on it and Tait's head had been converted to unleaded.

Additionally we put a new oil pump on the engine as well as a new timing chain. Both were on the edge of serviceablitiy. Of course a new clutch oil seal went in as well.

yes please pass on the news that the engine is now in good use....

because of the compression rings giving way in theold engine it had riped the oil pump to pretty much shreds...... the timing chain was looser then a 2 dollar hooker....

have just been givin ( THANKS GRAHAM ! ! ! ) a spin on oil filter conversion thing and will be installing that over the weekend....

i have started to strip the old engine block aswell.... was extremely grimey .....

i have spoken to a auto electrician aswell..... quoted bout $300 to rewire the spagetti in the engine bay aswell as install my "FULLY SIC" lol tacho and stereo... this will be done in the next few weeks....

looser than a two dollar hooker eh ?? Been there for comparative purposes eh ???

In addition to your 12 inch centre console mounted tacho with all its flashing lights, see if you can pick up a temperature guage and an oil pressure guage. Its fairly important to know what both those values are.

I have a fairly good idea that the rings collapsed because the engine cooked.

Wow, what a great effort you guys. How nice to hear such kindness in a time where we usually hear of more than enough crap going on. Good on ya's!
