Got the motor out my old clubman. I have a single speed from a '61 mini I am looking to get rid of if that helps (square motor). Won't know if I am getting rid of it until I can the current wiper working though.

I've got a late model 2 speed in my Mk1. I swapped the gearwheel over somehow (10years ago). I also had to cut and re-flare the tube, but I think I still have the original wiper boxes. I had to drill another hole in the firewall as the 3 mounts are different. & the elec plug doesn't fit.

Are you sure it's just the wiring you need to sort out?

Maybe I'll give him a shot. I don't know though. Another guy called Ted with an MG once tried to convince me that the MG would beat the mini. I have never put much stock in his comments after that.

Doz.

The wipers work fine apart from the park. I swapped the old wiper wheel boxes onto the new motor, drilled a new hole in the firewall to mount the newer wiper motor and everything fits and rotates as it should. It just wont park now which makes me think the wiring must be hooked up wrong.

If it's not the wiring then I may have to take the motor out and open it up and clean it out. I just can't work out how connecting anything to the final pin on the motor which is the earthed to the wiper casing will make any difference.

The wiring in the car should be set up the same as the old clubman for the wiper, all the wire colours match diagram in the Gregory manual. Lesson to be learn't: remember to write down all the connections before removing wires.

At the moment I may just leave it without a park function

There are 'fingers' inside the wiper motor that are usually worn away. These make electrical contact to enable the park feature and are touching a plate on the back of the big gear wheel.

I can't recall how the wiring exactly goes but I'm pretty sure the + (green wire) always on is the one that enables park, it's not used for either of the two speeds. If this is connected correctly then its most likely the fingers worn.

Cheers

Daniel

Aha now that may help. I'll take out the wiper and check that the arm I have the green wire on is the park one.
