sorry don't know much, all i know
is the common en40b crank as being
the strongest. (don't even know if
i called it th eright thing  )

from what i heared i think most mini
cranks are pretty strong anyways.

i don't think i was any help at all...
sorry

The crank in my 1330cc has larger journals than other 1275's. I think it may be from a californian moke 1275. Dont know if this makes things any more reliable?

Sorry , but cranks are not all that strong in the A Series. For a start with only three bearings the things tend to flap about and destroy themselves if you don't go to extra lengths such as centre main bearing strap, central oil pick-up, balancing, shot peening or toughening.

EN40 originally made by Rolls Royce? and highly sought after....

Surely the latest billet cranks would be the strongest??

ok,,,the strongest "Factory" mini crank ever produced was (in my opinion) the Sth African 1071cc large Journal crank

way way strong compared to "ANY" 1275cc crank ---(even the EN40B ones) & have been known to rev past 10,000rpms all day in race mode

the next strongest in the line up would have to be the large journal 1275cc cranks,,,they can take up to 9000rpms all day in std form & we use these carnks as a base for our stroker 1415cc engines & can handle 8000rpms all day

I do have 2 of the 1071cc Sth African large journal cranks in stock if you`re keen to build a bullett proof A series,,,not much crank whip to be seen in these little puppies :-) add 73mm pistons & a BMW twin cam 16valve cyl head, plug in the turbo chrager & the Autronic engine management system & Bob`s your Aunty :-) 10,000rpm & 20lbs boost 1170cc road warrior YEAH!!!! ,,,who wants one??????????? take a number & wait in line :-)

Hey Matt ! Good to hear from you...
James_Be (ex Minimania Site..) here ....

personally, I've not seen any hassle with my "little" 998 crank....
Its seen 8000 on the track and a fair whack over one day (missed a shift.. bugger!)
last pull down it looked excellent.........

thinking about changing to an 1100 Crank and pistons in the near future......
J

Matt, good buddy- you forgot the little 970S crank- stroke 60mm or so, 2" mains, it's like a little tree trunk!

OK so they got NO torque...
