Who cares what people do for crust... I'm a sewing machine mechanic, big woop.

As for the paint job, you can do it yourself and we can watch and learn. I'll word him up tomorrow, see if he's able to show us how to setup the gun, prep and paint.

my car is no show piece, i still havnt polished it yet.. after 2 years!!
you can see it here http://home.exetel.com.au/borris360/newblue.jpg

Just remember as im sure leylands bro knows, all the work is in prepping the panel, sanding it back, priming, sanding the primer etc.

putting the colour on takes no time, and its funish

roof shouldnt be dinged up either

Guys I dont wanna sound like im bagging anyone I just want you to have a car you love.. Heck im not even painting it so im not saying this for any other reason.
When you see a average painjob you wonder whats beneath the panels?? BOG HOLES FIBERGLASS CHICKEN WIRE...If they cheaped out on painting everything else is bodgy... IF you do a great job your minis value will skyrocket.. if its a bad onethe mini will be worth less then it is now.. This is because people dont know whats beneath it... Its better to leave it as it is as people can see its strait no rust and has never been bodged...

Just my two cents, from someone who works in the industry. Good luck whatever you do

Mike

Mike,
I do understand whay you are saying totally. I dont want a shite job that make my car look crap and detracts from the cost. That is why I was asking if anyone out there in mini land would be willing to help. Thanks for your concern and I am not rushing this job.

The dent in the roof is only slight. It looks like someone leant on it and it has a slight creasey type but in it. I am not sure on the cause but you can only just notice it. I am sure it would come out easily with the right persons touch ( ie someone that knows what is going on.)
After seeing the before and after pics of czerials car anything is possible

leyland bro
Thanks for the offer. Let me know what he says and I will get back to you. Pm me if you want

Hey Floss, where in Melbourne are you? I'm no pro but i just painted my mini and would love to help out if there is a group of guys wanting to paint. What sort of quality finish are you looking for? Showroom / Runabout / Rust Preventing?

Gotta throw my 2 cents worth in here.

My daughter's clubby gets home next weekend after spending some weeks at the welders. She has been quoted $1800 to paint her car in 2 pack. Sounds ok but she doesn't have a job at the moment and her funds are now 'ZERO' after paying for the engine and some of the welding.

Ok, I live in Clifton Springs which is about 20 minutes out of Geelong on the Bellarine Penninsula. I have a huge 4 car garage with power and lights. I'm not a painter and dont have the gear.

Would Clifton Springs be convenient to organise a "car painting demo.'??

Cheers

Hey Rodney, how close to painting is your daughters clubby? ie is it in primer, are there any bumps? Is it complete(windows etc.) or can we just spray without too much masking up? Does she want it two colors or just one?

All looking good we could probably paint her car and Floss' roof on the same day. Or if its a 4 car garage we could do 2 at a time. Anyone else need something painted?

Is it 20mins further from Geelong or closer??? How does that suit Floss?

I'd be up for a day where everyone helps each other learn a bit more about painting. I think that if mastered you will be able to save yourself a fair bit of money in the long run. I've got a gun and maybe a compressor that i can probably bring. maybe if everyone brings their own guns if they have them and then we can pick the best of them, Mine is getting a bit old and worn now

I suppose though that we need someone that has a bit of experience, or we can just print off a whole heap of stuff from the internet and everyone learn as we go.

Who's going to use their car as a guinea pig? :)

I'm just about to call someone now who might be able to show us the way to do it...

Just spoke to my cuz and he said he could give us a lesson or two on what to do, depending where, when and equipment.

geelong sounds alright to me.
I am not keen on my car being a guinea.
I have a few little dings that need to be taken out. I dont really want to bog over them. Anyone done this? I can read up on it and see if i can get some tools but am scared.

Well this is starting to sound pretty good.
We need to get the mad skillz of someone like nullabor express onboard :)

I am not looking for a perfect award winning car but would like it to look good. Lets put it this way, i would like it to look as close to an award winning car as i can get it :)

this is my baby.
