my moke has got a freshly rebuilt 1100 engine, +.040''. stock cam. stock exhaust 12g202 head freshly rebuilt with double valve springs and oversixe exhaust valves. it runs a 1 1/2 inch su and currently has a dz needle in it. it has a "top fill" style petrol tank in it and when it is full and driven sensibly, i manage to get 250 km out of a tank. the car runs great but what i want to know is, is this about average?. does anyone have a similar setup? if so, what do you get from a tank of juice? i thought i should be getting a little more than 250 km from a full tank. i think it is about 25 litres in a tank?

to me, that mileage is SPOT ON!

I had a 1098, 202 head, twin SU's, RE13 cam and was getting 250km from a 25L tank.

I'm getting about 7 litres/ 100k's on the 1330 with RE13 and M needled twin SU's.
That's 350 K's per tank or 760 on the twin tanks!

I'm sure it should be more fuel than that every hundred k's , but I'm sure she's tuned spot on....Maybe I should just try to accept it, but other people's cars eating more fuel makes me nervous.

been a while since i drove the mini, but i drove it along the f3 stiking around the 100k mark, at this piont i didnt have my dash fully working and i would think that sitting at such a high rpm i would have half a tank left, stuck the nozzle from the bowser and 10 seconds after i stuck it in , "clink", looked at the bowser screen and read 4.5 ltrs,

4.5 ltrs for 70 to 90k,

i got 1275ls stock besides the twin sus and extractors and i get about 300 ks from the 30 litre tank if i lighten the foot i can get 350 plus depends how and where i drive

My van, 1100 stock, worn, 1.25" carb, pea shooter exhaust, SLOW, will do 150-200miles off 20litres. (normal driving, not highway stuff)

The 1275 LS will do 250-300km off around 27 litres. (normal driving, not highway stuff).

My petrol tank sender needs replacing on my mini which has a 1310 now. I do know it uses considerably more fuel than the previous stock 1098.

Just how much more is the conjecture. Its probably about equal to a two lire type mazda or nissan of about twenty years old.

You just can't compare a computer controlled, lean burn motor to a thirty year old car. Like it or lump it, the new motors are fuel and performance efficient.

i swear with my 998cc engine never been worked, all original with a 1 1/2 su i think. and new exhaust pipe i am getting about 5-6 litres per 100km, i could get it down to 4 if i didn't floor it whenever i left giveway or stop signs or getting onto the highway or leaving corners.

but yeah only took me about 25 litres for the 500 km to stanthorpe.

Gee thats good mileage.

With my 1152 and twins i get about 32-35mpg (a gallon = 4.5L).
I wish i could boost it up, but apparently these days all i do is drive around town and im down to almost empty off a full tank after 70 miles. So its not a good prize.

well the last trip down the road we got 6.6 per 100 or in the old talk 41 miles per gallon, this was with no special economy type driving just normal driving

With my 1310cc Moke fitted with an 1 3/4" SU with 2 people aboard, all out gear for 4 days and driving the speed limit on the trip to Shepperton and back last March, the car averaged 35mpg.. 1000klms round trip and 3 fill ups so roughly 330klm/tank.. Around town is about 30+mpg..

It has the side filling tank and holds 32ltrs...

is it just molly or me. i always thought my fuel consumption was good, bout 5L per 100 Km. but the figures you lot are pumping out aren't great at all. cars with biger engines get better then that. is it casue they are old and inefiicient?
