Downloaded the classic Goodbye Pork pie. A laugh, but quite a lame film after all the years. Noticed on the yellow mini in the film the window surrounds are yellow the same colour as the car. All the minis I saw in the UK recently were like this as well. But all the minis here in WA seem to have a chrome strip around the windows/ top of doors. Did they only do this in Australia? Would have thought the cars in New Zealand (where the films set) would have come from Aus.
P.S. I would have bought the film but when asked my local DVD place looked at me as if I were crazy...."no mate cant find it listed".

Most minis in the 70s were made in New Zealand. i believe they had three "manufacturing" plants - they didn't press any panels I don't think. The minis were all made to English specs, so no lift-up door handles, no quarter lights, no high back seats. These (and more) are all things specific to K-series cars.

Although it's dated, it's still fun and has a lot of things which have all disappeared from NZ. Most notably are the separate Ministry of Transport patrol cars (in those days, the Police didn't consider road safety a duty), and the separate Auckland city traffic patrol car (The one which first pulls up Jerry/Blondini). If you look at the close-ups of the Police car and the mini racing on the Haast road, take a look at the dotted white line - they're only doing about 20kmph

Granted, it's appeal these days relies somewhat on knowing NZ at the time, but I love the way they change the head in the railway carriage overnight with almost no tools.

You should have supported our home grown mini magazine The Mini Experience and purchased a legal copy from them.

The stainless steel fittings around the top of the doors are a Cooper/S/Matic/MiniK/Clubman GT/S etc thing.

NZ got Pommie Minis AND Aussie ones.

Generally the budget models didn't have the stainless steel fittings around the doors.

I guess telling people where to download the film and putting the DVD cover up was not the best of ideas. Hence the fact Ive removed it.

As I said I would have purchased the film but couldnt get it locally.

Also Im not knocking the film. Actually found it quite entertaining.

He did have a screwdriver to change the cylinder head in the train so it would have been an easy job!

Still prefer the original Italian Job as the ultimate mini movie. The only thing the new has going for it is Charlise Theron.

You probably won't believe this, but here goes anyway.

Yesterday my daughter walked into JB HiFi and saw a copy of GoodBye Pork Pie. She paid $12.99 for it. It was a 2 disc set - 90 minutes of the movie and 120 minutes of extras. Going to watch disc 2 tonite.

That's a bargain!

Why on earth would they have it anyway?

Here's a pic of my little 'Pork Pie'.

It's identical to the car in the movie - apart from the obvious (naff) stripe, and could have been on the production line at the same time! I took it out for a run last weekend in preparation for out nationals, and went over a few of the roads around Auckland that were in the movie - esp out by airport.
