There are 2 types of oval binnacle.
The old Mk1 type attaches to an adaptor which in turn attaches to the 1 clock binnacle. They are pretty much collectors items now.
The Mk2 plastic type used here on Mini K MiniMatic and Mk2 S replaces the single clock one. Single piece, it's attached by 4 screws into captive nuts top and bottom.
Our Barney has been fitted with one of these by PO in a different manner. The trim was attached to the dash first, then the binnacle screwed on through the trim.
All the wiring was lengthened a bit, and an early Clubby speedo cable used. This means that I can sit in the car, take out 4 screws, reach around edge of binnacle to undo speedo cable, then the whole lot falls into my lap. It's a great system, so easy to work on.
