I heard theres a red mini parked in somewhere in Redfern (PM me for exact location). I'm sure the owner wouldn't even notice if you went and took whatever bits you need from it (PM if you need to borrow any tools).

i'll be in for it, i had a thought once around something similar to this with making up a car club. each person drop's in $10 when a member need's somthing and vice versa when sombody else need somthing. 200 members in a club, everybody donates $10 and you have $2000, thats a new paintjob or set of rims and tyres. etc etc. could work if you didnt have dodgy people in your club

The vincent motorcycle club have their own spares shop. I'm not sure how this works exactly, but it would be cheaper than a retail outlet I'm sure.

The Bendigo bank started in a similar way to what you are suggesting. Everyone from the town paid a weekly "donation" to the building society and when they had enough to build a permanant residence, they drew a name out of a hat (hence the name permanant building society). This family continued to donate even though they already had a house..

As for mini's, I've built many on beers/BBQ's so who needs cash...

meh i just thought if it happened to any of us it'd be a nice thing to know we'd have a posse of ausminiers to help and to have something you love just f***ed up by some thoughtless bastards really got me thinking!
we're all here cause we love minis and i just thought it'd be nice for people to rally together under the mini umbrella (hehe an image of koombya hippies comes to mind) but yeah you get the idea!

to all who have posted that's seriously tops!
and em if you;re not going to take our money then if you need any mini bits to fix her up pm me instead of cash em could post a list of bits maybe and we could all pick one?
kind of like one of those DJ's wedding rosters to bring her and betty back to life in a beautiful same sex marriage (lack of sleep apologies for randomness!)
