Hello, anyone have any pictures of webber boxes? you know the type where the firewall has to be cut and a webber box welded/pop rivetted in. Any pics would be good.

No i am not going to hack Lillee's firewall, I am just curious what is involved with it if I ever went that path.

thanks!

I did that already, any filter STILL won't fit, the speedo is in the way.
So I sold the GR manifold.
Now, I have a friggin' big hole there covered with soundproofing. Oh well..

Good enough for Toyota's Echo, and the BINI as well. 8)
Actually with decent seats in a Clubby and the steering lowered so it's not a bus, the little Clubby speedo is LESS visible than the big middle one, IMO.

It is pretty long, will just fit with a Weber or Dellorto and NO filter, if you have the std hole in the firewall. I had to trim the edge of hole to fit the corner of the carb in.
If a late Clubby and no hole there, no way will you fit it without cutting a hole. Make it a big one...
NOTE WHERE THE SPEEDO CABLE AND NUT IS...

I know how long a GR intake is, I want pics of a box. Please don't talk me out of it bla bla, that's not my question... I just need to know details!

How do cars like Ron's car do it? does he have a centre speedo? Surely there are race cars out there that have a box and a working centre speedo? how does that work to make it fit? 90 degree speedo cable? do they have to use spacers behind the speedo cowl? welded or pop rivetted? Engineers certificate required? anyone out there that has this type of setup want to share?

I hear that a battery box is the perfect size for this, is there still enough space for a cooper/K center cowl if this is done?

Who knows, I may be the first car with a GR intake that has a working speedo  there's a first for everything people :P

I posted these pics in reply to Buztoy's Q, Chongo... not you.
The Nb cars mostly have a non-working speedo (often just the face), some people move the whole speedo a couple of inches into the car.
Good luck anyway. :P

Looking at that above picture, I bet if I cut a perfectly sized trapezoidal shaped box with a slight taper torwards the speedo end, it would fit ram tubes and socks over the GR intake and if I move the cables over so they exit from somewhere else, spacer the speedo cowl and modify it slightly so that it just fits over the box on the other side. Then have a 90 degree speedo cable it will fit!

I mean people fit V8's and twin engines in minis so how hard is it to make a a long intake manifold fit??

This is the difference between 113hp and 130hp+ so it is worth exploring!!!
