The dyno results would be more credible if they had had a compressor and made all the tyres 50psi. As MRC did and most other places.
A bigass air fan would have helped a little too, considering they all? ran with the bonnets on.

hmmmm, don't even start me on the cooling fan....

As for tyre pressure, 32-34 but recorded as 50 on sheet :?

yeah i agree kev, having not planned on going on the dyno (or knowing much about them) i didnt think of my tyres until Graham goes, Chris your tyres are almost flat ur gonna loose some there... it didnt really matter for me, but froma consistency point of view i think it would have been a good thing... but thats all stuff that as a comitee we will know to get right in 5 years!

Daniel, I know ur not all that happy with ur result, but its still a fantastic number.

They didn't run a fan because it would have cost another $500 to use another 3phase power converter to run the fan..

Look how long it took between runs, let alone getting them to check tire pressures...

I should have taken the bonnet and airfilter off the moke

yeah money was a very big issue with the dyno, but once again good on bob for making it work so well for the limited resources at his disposal.

yes tru tru JC would of not wanted any more of a delay

I'm not unhappy with the result (hp number or position) given what I know now about running the car on a chassis dyno (or any dyno).

As I said to grant I didn't expect it to be higher than his given that it's got 177 at the fly.

I am unhappy though that the car couldn't run the boost it normally does and that I offended so many people after the run. Alot of people came up to me and were asking questions but I was too peeved to really give them the attention they deserved.

They showed interest in my car and I virtually fobbed them off, for this I apologise.

Anyway, I will be at the next dyno day as at least I know my engine will run with that hp all day without a cooling fan

Cheers

Daniel
PS - they could have got the guy doing paperwork to check tyre pressures and advise owners how/what to pump to (supply air hose too) in the line up. This wouldn't add any time.

Dyno results were very good, its nice to know when things aren't right.

Bruiser has had the standard needle for 1100S motor put back in and the floating AAA is in the bin and leaned off and a sports air filter added which has him running much better, but its still not the correct needle as its a standard 1100S needle and Bruizer's motor is anything but standard. Twins are currently being built to the spec of the motor.

A new electronic 123mini distributor is also on the way as the original one built for that motor was damaged when the Elf was written off so the one thats in it isn't correctly weighted. (Bruizers motor was originally in our Riley elf)

I'm hanging for the next Dyno day, what have others who weren't happy with results done, anything?

Steve

good to hear steve, can i still try and convince u to stick a 1.75 on there instead of the twins????? :) :)

I will have to pump up my tyres before the next dyno event i believe, but i will hopefully have leila to put on there instead. I may even trailer Lizzie the LS over for the next dyno day to see how she goes lol.

Cant wait for a drive of bruiser one day steve, i know ull love the difference with the new carbies on there.

123 dizzy is also a big expense, will be great to see what sort of improvement that gets!

power and torque is mainly to do with the feel when taking off and accelerating (correct me if im not entirely correct)
when steve took me down the m5 i was blown away by its top end performance
so i was surprised with the 37, which now, looking retrospectively has more to do with the standing start and low speed acceleration

whats the diff between 1.75 and twins performancewise chris?
i would expect with twins the fuel is better mixed and more evenly fed
:?

Twin HS2's VS single HS6
This is a difficult one to answer. There are other factors that come into play.
Which intake manifold?
Which exhaust headers/extractors? etc.

If you grab the Mini Experience, and look at Graham Russells Project Smallbore you will see that he tested the Twin HS2's (1.25" SUs) and the HS6 (1.75" SU)

The HS performed better through the rev range... some will argue that twins are better, others will argue that twins are a pain to keep in tune, etc... just depends who you ask.

I'll run a HS6 (even though I have access to Twin HS2's, HS4's and HS6's.

Cheers,
Peter.
