hey guys it will be a few months away yet but when my car is finished what type of shocks do you guys think would be best.

the car has all new standard suspension, rubbers, and it will have a set of hi-los on it to.
it will be rolling on 13 by 7 rims with 175/50/r13 tyres.
and a set of sportspack arches.

the car will be a daily driver and i don't mind hard suspension.

any help would be great.

basicly its personal oppinoin, i have spax adjustables, and will buy again, others have gaz or koni or kyb.
go adjustable, bilsten, koni, gaz or Spax. all will be good...how deep are em pockets?

Yep go the adjustables. Personally i have the racing konis all round. Just keep in mind with the low profile tyres and hard suspension its going to be a hard ride. But at least you can adjust them.

And the good thing with the konis is that you can service them. ie if they stop working they can be repaired and don't have to be thrown out.

I got spax adjustables, the old model. Simply awesome, cost me 250 for a full set seconds hand (that's pretty cheap i think!)

The 300 new ones are a new model and are more adjustable to suit you needs. Personally I just tighten up to full for limited body roll, yes it's uncomfotable but you get used to it and dam it's fun but I got 10's which have nice and baloonish tyres. I don't know how they'd go on 13's. They probably be very, very uncomfortable, but if you want performance that's what you do.

The job of a shock is not to control body roll it is to control wheel movement caused by the road and stop the springing system from just bouncing around, you will find your car handles much better if it has movement and can ride over bumps and keep the wheels in contact with the road its called car setup

Really tight shocks, which can still move but not quickly do actaully reduce body roll as the wheel can't move as much, less wheel movement does mean less body roll. I hooned it around my block, felt it. Tightened em up and did it again...much better!. If loose shocks were better them. spax wouldn't sell tight ones for a lot more! I still stand by tight handles better, much more road holding and much less body roll! Just give em a test (not mine of course!) And now with Formula R's...yeah !

You are wrong again, `gas' shocks all work on oilz, not gas.
They are just topped up with nitrogen under pressure, instead of plain old air..

Don't run without shocks unless it's a hydro car... they are a fundamental part of the suspension.
