NO SPEED LIMIT Twilight Drive Nights

Motorists wanting to drive fast without getting fined or locked up for speeding, now have a safe location to test their cars performance. Management at Sydney’s Eastern Creek Raceway are making the race circuit available to licensed drivers in road-registered cars. No speed limits exist. Drivers can lap the track as fast as they wish.

NO SPEED LIMIT TWILIGHT DRIVE NIGHTS are being conducted at Eastern Creek Raceway from 5pm till 8pm on the Friday evenings of November 19, December 10, 2004 and in the New Year, on January 21, 2005.

Responsible enthusiasts now have the opportunity to enjoy the power of their cars in a safe controlled environment. Drivers must hold a full drivers licence (no P plates) and be over 18 years of age, cars must be registered and road worthy. A limit of thirty cars are on track in each 20-minute session. Drivers get a minimum of 3 x 20 minute sessions.

Overtaking is only permitted on the main straight.

At sign on, drivers are issued with a set of rules and regulations.

Looks like I'm going to go along and have a bit of fun. Who else is in? Also, a great afternoon if you just want to come along and watch.

Dont be scared, if you have always wanted to have a go at motorsport there is no better way to have a small taste.

Monkey, unfortunatly they will check. THis is a pretty new thing for the ARDC but something that has been a long time coming. Unfortunatly Insurance problems mean these days are pretty well policed so they will be checking and double checking everyones paperwork. There is however a simpler way to get around this. Go to the CAMS web page and download the application for a CAMS 2LS licence. There is no test required and as long as you are a current member of a CAMS affiliated club you can get a CAMS licence which means you can do 2LS practice days, which they hold more regularly than these twilight things, and go all day. it's about the same cost and there are no rules on overtaking, you just go for it. You can get a 2LS licenec once you are 16 so P plates have no effect on them. The only thing your car needs to participate in a 2LS (HANG ON I THINK IT MAY BE 2S not 2LS ) is bonett pins, a blue triangle where the battery is and a fire extinguisher properly mounted. Also a good idea to have at least a four point harness as you will be doing some pretty quick speeds and in a mini you want something more than a lap / sash belt.

Come along on the 19th and take a look.

OK, for those of you who want to take it further here are a couple more dates. As I said the L2S days (got it right now) are an all day thing and you get plenty of track time, you will learn more about yourself and your car in one day on the track that months behond the wheel on the road. EC was the first tim I did 100MPH in a mini - whooo hooo.

As I said all you need to do is download the L2S application form from the CAMS Web page, it only costs $90.00 per year and between Oran Park and Eastern Creek they have at least one 2LS day per month. Throw in a couple of MDC Wakefield Park days per year and there is more motorsport than you can poke a stick at. You can even do SUpersprints with a L2S licence, though I think practice days are better value for money and you do more than 3 laps at a time so you get a chance to get your eye in.

oz already put a thread up on this, but sounds like a good night out. If my car is running 100% after next weekend and the canberra trip id be very interested in taking it out to the creek.

That straight is BIG, may have to get a speed cut bypass on my car though, as i hit the jap spec speed cut of 180kph today in about 14 seconds from a standing start. ( private property)

yep still have the trailor here, been very usefull :)

Will probably not tow my car to much with it now though, i havnt really got a good tow vehicle for long trips, short trips (30mins) is ok, but wakefield maybe not. Ill pobably just drive down there in the mini, and maybe someone else can bring there mini down on it incase someone brakes down.

Anyway we will sort that out next time we go down there, hopefully earstern creek will be good and will not have to travel down there much.

If you are not using it on the days , would it be possible for me to borrow it for Eastern Creek Fri 19th and Friday Dec 10th? I'll pick up and deliver in excellent condition.

Advantage to you is ath if you have a problem on 19th (which we hope not) I can drop you home on the way. if I have a problem I'm not stranded on the other side of the world.
