So if you have around a lazy $20K contact Humes or Brian Walden for their contact details.

Nah its a race car originally built by Paul Gulson, its Funny we were only talking about it yesterday to at the MRA presentation as the NSW boys are going down to Winton the first week of Dec for the Byrne memorial and we were wondering if any of the old cars are going to rise from the dead

i reckon you could fit a 10a, not 13b or 12a, use a 10a and go periphariel ports, at least 300hp from a 10a,

rotary in fwd can be done i saw a 20b in the jamboree i was at lately, it was only a burn out car,

did you want dimensions, are you going to keep the mini fwd

The Paul Gulson car (which became the Cary Tappets car) had a rotary motor in the cabin next to the drivers legs and had a VW type gearbox in front of the motor. (it may have been a Hewland gearbox)

It was raced but it was never legal. 8)

It is quite easy to fit a rotary motor to a fwd gearbox and fit it in a mini, the problem is getting it approved.

FYI ...... this is a speedway bomb I built back in the 70's. 12A ported..... believe it or not, drive through a Mazda Bongo 800cc transaxle. 13x10" on front. No muffler... really good flame thrower. Motor inside cab turned around and driving through std S driveshafts. Gearbox under bonnet. Exhaust coming out just behind passengers door.

Now that just proves that madness and creative genius are very close together. Only the perspective of the observer determines it. 8) From where I sit, it's genius!

From memory, I think the Gulson car ran a 13B and Hewland. Sports Sedans back then had few rules 'cept original floorpan and roof. It had to stay fwd. Amazing car though for the era!

Have heard, someone made an enquiry here in WA, and engineering-wise a 12A is OK, and I believe the project has started ?? Will find out, hopefully and letyou know :D

See boys, it's all been done before....

There was a 10A bolted to a mini box (custom welded top flange on box) in S.I.T. Ultimo workshop 10 years (or more) ago that was being modified for the idler gear arrangement. I was offered it for 2'gs or something but couldn't see me finding time to finish as I was doing setup for turbo at the time.

I don't think it was ever completed and last I heard it was thrown in the scrap bin.

a 13b is roughly the same length/height as a 1275, only the width is a problem. as far as approval goes, check the GVM of a van, I'm sure a 12a would be allowed under NSW rules

I'll be putting my 13bt in the mini for next years dyno day 8) 450kw no probs

Daniel

there were actually FWD rotaries...

the Luce for example...

if you can find somewhere to put the steering rack it should be too hard.. :)
