Have seen an example of tightening up the ball end flats by welding and then shaping them back into balls...this was coupled with new bushings in the Diff housing for the short transfer rods and de-ovaling the pedal pivots in the footbox....seems to have worked a treat.

Good that Ian has highlighted a good fix for sizzle....so why did I have to continually hold his gear shift today in the Traveller :P What sort of quickshift is it Ian and do you think it might be the splined and pinch bolted transfer rods that is causing your sizzle :?:

If you add the trunnion bush it goes over the bottom part of the gearstick, so it pushes down on the shift socket in the remote.
Pull stick out, fit trunnion bush, refit.

Well I finaly found a Nulon Cup for the Bottom of the gear stick. Apparently its out of a Cooper S and is rounded on the bottom. It also came with the Spring.

What A differance it made. A lot of the slop has gone but I am sure the Bushes at the box end are well worn, but they will have to wait till the Engine comes out.
on the weekend I will replace the remote rubber stead and that will fix what vibration I have left

Just a crappy piece of rubber, you could probably do the same with a piece of heater hose cut to length, but for $2.50, I'm not gonna complain. Pretty sweet results.

Looks like an engine steady bush, is it similar?

The Other problem I'm having is difficulty selecting third from second. It just doesn't seem to want to go in.

Could this have anything to do with the bad vibrations?

Cheers

Matt

PS Whole lot was recoed professionally a few months back, car been driven about 10 miles since!
