The bearings are a pretty neat fit on the drive flange, with old age sometimes they get stuck.
When you pull it out, often the outermost bearing comes apart and leaves its inner ring stuck on there.
If so I carefully thin the ring down in 1 spot with angle grinder, almost to the shaft- then split it with a hammer and chisel.
Don't pull the swivel hub off the CV and whack the drive flange from the back- you will just bellmouth it, and the bearings won't fit anymore....
Polish the spindle with 180 wet/dry paper to remove any burrs, the bearings should be a slide-on fit.
If the spindle is grooved by the bearings, go find a better drive flange.
