oops,,,how did that pic of a turbo charged 4.7 litre alloy V8 powered mini get there ?????????? well i`ll be!!!....what a nutter,,,who would have thought???

well,,,you did ask about the "biggest engine" to fit in a mini :-)

& i`m sure that`s not quite the biggest , but at least it`s still east-west configure & front wheel drive :-)

You are lucky you couldn't find one. Not one of Zetlands better ideas. They also made a 1750 version which went no quicker than the 1500. There are none around for good reasons. Morris Marinas had the same motors.

I agree- the Leyland OHC motors were a heavy POS.

Yes Marinas had them here in Oz, but in NZ they got the 1275 A series... or was it A+? 8) .

Don't forget the Marina "Red Six" - P76 2.6 L straight six engine in a Marina shell from the factory. It was pretty quick but the handling was shocking with all that weight up front.

Not yet mate,,,,apart from my house lifting & renovations,& Down Hill Mountain bike racing & mini repairs business,,, i`ve still got 2 BMW twin cam conversions on the go & i`m now also building 3 of these alloy V8 conversion engines as well,,,

one for the speedway mini N/A (in Non-turbo form) & 2 turbo ones for a twinny-minny,,,as in twin Alloy V8s with a turbo on each :-) one in the front & one in the back,,,750Hp+ & 4x4,,,what you guys reckon hey???

good little hill climb weapon or what???

so,,,as you can see...i`ll be a little while before they`re all done :-)

Hi guys. I busy fitting a 1800 ,20valve Toyota motor into my pannelvan. Seemed to be n bit tight but will work. Only thing is the exaust manufault and Alternator to sort out..Well only started with the conversion. So will keep you up to date.

Busy with the website. Will let you all know when up and running... Some cool pics , ideas and information...

Dont you mean 1600......all the 20V Toyota Engines i know are 1.6L. Silvertop's from the AE101's and 92 Corolla Family and Blacktops from AE111's were all 1600.

If your putting one of these things in Id love to see how it fits.....cause to me theyed be WAY too big for a mini.

Id think a 4AGE would be better suited...SFA difference really in power between them.

Hmm, all well and good, but as a biker, I'd go down the bike engine route for pure power. Something like a Kawa 1100, mid mounted driving the rears - I know it's been done, but let's face it: None of those V8s mentioned are ever going to turn a corner...

As standard, my CBR600 makes 90bhp @ 13,000 (just as a reference point). I tend towards Colin Chapman's Lotus theory of light weight making a car go fast.

All theory of course - I'm still trying to bleed the brakes on the Clubman...
