Which makes the scum who nick them even lower because they will know what they mean to the owner.

I think running an electric charge through it similar to an electric fence is the go. Touch it and anyone messing with it will get a mighty big zap. :D

Damn poki , I was about to say hook the electric fence up to the door handles ...

I'd say something like a hidden kill switch for peace of mind but also a big obvious thing like a clublock or similar that people can see to know it'll be dificult rather than doing damage to get in only to find they can't start it . I saw several years ago a club lock with a motion sensor and strobe light mounted in the to of it , if you tried to move the wheel to get into the car a siren would sound and (more importantly) a strobe would flash . The strobe poking above the steering wheel and therefore highly visible could be seen for miles and was a better deterent than a siren . Maybe rig a silent alarm up that when the car is bumped a strobe pops up through the roof vent and flashes . I'd bet more people would take notice of it than a normal alarms siren ....

I reckon a steering wheel lock and a hidden kill switch. I always put my steering wheel lock on back to front so that the keyhole is facing the front of the car thus making it harder for the crook to pick the lock (they can't see what their doing) etc.

Buy a good one, don't skimp. The one that I have atm is the same model as one that dad did have on his car, but while down in brissie he forgot to take the key and it took a trained locksmith 45 minutes to get it off.

Just beware that thieves have been known to actually cut a steering wheel so they can get the steering wheel lock off.

Steering Wheel Lock and a hidden kill switch sounds like a good option to me!

Cheers,
Rob.

I'd go clublock as it is visual.

I used to have one until I used it in the works truck which I borrowed to go to the footy. Trouble is I forgot to take the key with me

Very nice man from the RAA hacksawed it off for me in about 5 minutes.

Go the steering wheel lock. The whole idea is to have a big visual deterrant so they move on to the next one, istead of yours.

Professional thieves who are targetting a specific car will get it, no matter what.

Just make it a bother for the busy amatuers and you are mostly OK.

That being said, have a hidden kill switch just to F@#* em if they do break in anyway!

Cheers
Matt

i wouldnt go for a clublock, they dont do much other then tell people you dont have an alarm/imob. plus they are dangerous to have in a car in an event of a crash.
i have an alarm / imob in my car and its a PITA but vigil insu. told me i had to have it to be coverd. shannons said it was good that i had one but its not essential.
personally i'd go for a fuel cutout/ battery isolator and alarm. sometimes people dont want to steal your car but whats in it.

the only deterent is to stick a magnatron (it's the thing that makes microwave oven cook) and hook it up (acording to specs) somewhere in the ignition and a hidden switch you can turn on and off before you start the car

if the switch is on and they get past the kill switch, clublock missing rotor missing dizzy cap imoboliser and loud car alarm you can guarantee they won't even get into gear or get the handbrake off before they decide to try another car (if they are still alive)
and to counter the tilit tray idea a remote gps alarm (configured to trigger the alarm when the car is moved a certain distance from where it was parked) can trigger an alarm via sms and give the cars final position away...

not far from unstealable

fill it with dead babies... heavily tinted windows so cops dont see, but yeh, if a thief opened up a car full of dead babies i dont think he'd be in a hurry to get it home.

(fake dead babies ofcourse :P and rotting meat so it smells real)

Yeah I got vigil. That's why I got an immobiliser as it was part of the contract for insurance. Right now I'm stuck on vigil till im 19 years old sa they are the only company that will insurance someone my age for over $1000 of total value of the car.

Actaully GPS tracking won't deter thieves, it'll lock em for doing it! I'd love to go round to the thieves house with my army of coppers and say "Lock 'im up boys!"
