G/Day,

An update on the red 1970 Cooper S coming from Queensland to Adelade. Special delivery in an enclosed transporter. Got held up in Sydney for a couple of days. Guess they need to fill the truck before heading south. Should be here in Adelaide next week. We will post some photos as soon as we learn how.

A bit more about us we had mini's in the sixties and seventies. A couple of early Cooper S's, a supercharged Mini Deluxe (998) and another red and white Deluxe.

The supercharged Mini was the quickest thing down King William Street, (Adelaide's main drag) in the early seventies. Used to blow off Falcon HO's, 327 Monaro's and the odd E49 Charger between lights. Used to frustrate hell out of the guys who had spent heaps on their cars. It was also one of the quickest cars downj the Old Mount Barker Road (Devil's Elbow). More about that later.

Hi all, my name is Paul and I live in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. I've been around Minis for over twenty years and have owned twelve of them in that time. Currently all I have left is a 1962 850 but have had a Cooper S, Mini SS and small wheel moke at various times. The S was sold because I couldn't afford to restore it and the SS suffered a twisted shell in an accident and had to be scrapped.

I'm a member of the VMCI and before that was with the MCCV. In the past I've mostly been involved in the motorsport (sprints and hillclimbs) side of things but my GF is planning to buy a new Cooper after Christmas so we'll probably use that for social cruises. The 850 has been sitting for the last couple of years but I'm hoping to give him a freshen up again next year. I also own a Bolwell Mark 4 and am in the (long) process of building another one from scratch.

No, I'm usually at the historics and the State Race Series but I do comms out on the track, so unless you are a flaggy you're unlikely to have seen me. I brought the mark 4 along to the historics a few years back, but not this year. The engine is being rebuilt (a loooong saga there) so it's just sitting in the carport at the moment.

That's me at Rob Roy in 2003.

hey everyone, new guy here!
My names Chris, i'm 19, from melbourne. Currently looking at getting my first mini (and real car for myself). Unfortunately, i know near nothing about cars, so i've been reading up about them madly for the last few months, as well as reading this website... I thought it was time to make an account so i can ask some real questions :)

Due to knowing nothing about cars, i'm thinking of spending a bit more and buying an already done-up one, but i'm still saving up the funds.

I think ill purchase it at the end of next year (give me time to save up for something decent), and i can't wait!

I'm glad i found this website, Iam always reading the buy/sell forum aswell as others!

Cheers

Hi Chris and welcome , not a bad idea to start with a good mini so you only have minor things to do while you're still learning . Mini's are fairly easy to work on but a lot of people make the mistake of starting with a full resto project without having had one before and mostly they get sold on in a million parts . Ask all the questions you want here and don't be afraid to ask for a hand when you do get a mini . ALso look at joining the Victorian Mini club (someone else can tell you who they are and where to find them) when you get a mini for even more hands on help .

thanks guys!

I was actually looking at attending the 'grand day out' on the 26th of november in bundoora. Unfortunatly i have work that day. I'm still contemplating getting out of it, but the more work shifts i miss, the longer it takes to save up for a mini!

p.s. My girlfriend thinks im going crazy, whenever she is around all she hears about is 'ausmini' and is stuck looking at minis in the 'for sale' section of this site.... I love it!
