Hey people,
Just req a bit of assistance with fiting 13 inch superlites to a 1275 LS, do i HAVE to get the body modified or is there some way around it and does n e one have any pics of what exactly needs to be done, still deciding weather to stick with the 12's or put the effort in for 13's..... cheers

it isn't ALOT of metal that has to come off.... just a trim....

I do remembere a few weeks back supercharged 850 was putting together a how to regarding fitting 13s and sportpack arched.... Did he ever finish it?

when i was looking on that mini finity website i saw they had a template to cut out around the gaurd, but i cant find it now

thinking about it while eating supper, you should be able to work it out, if you know the diamitor of you new wheel plus tyre, then draw a circle on a peice of carboard the same size, jack up your car and stick a lump of wood under the camber (not the ball joint or any steering part), turn the wheel as if you were going round a coner and see how close it gets, it will depend also on how wide you wheels are,

this wouldnt be accurate but should give you an idea on surgery

Just looking at those two pictures it would appear it took you a couple of attemps to get the cuts right ??
Looks good with the big rims though

its a little bit rough, but it works

a more expensive option would be to re-weld the lip back on which keeps the panel strong

Hey there REALXSBASS,

I am currently going through exactly the same decision making about my LS1275. An email I sent to Northern Mini Parts about rim types also asked about 13 inch rims and were they a problem fitting.

Their resposne was "As long as the ride height is correct you can fit 13" rims without any problem". I really do like the idea of 13 inch rims though but I don't like the idea of having to do mini surgery on my mini though.

Maybe I will go wilth a wider 12 inch rim.

you can run the front ride height fairly high and its driveable
but not very practical, and not as good as cutting the guards

you can make the lip again after you cut the guard by leaving 10mm excess and then grap some plyers and start bending along a radius line, then finish it off with a hammer

that's the proper way to do it , the lip adds strength to the panel and helps it hold it's shape .
